<DIV>Hi all. I have read a bunch of posts on the forums about Paladins, some good, and some bad. I was wondering what it is that YOU like the most about playing a Paladin? I am in the process of making an Iksar Paladin, just like to know all the good stuff I have to look forward to. Thanks. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

I like playing a Paladin for the mere fact that they are the "knights in shining armor" <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> But as far as the physical play style, I like it a lot because you are a fighter, and starting around 22 when you get your first heal, you are also a light healer. This is especially great for soloing - less down time. Plus, the devs gave Paladins the ability to actually be a **mods 4 teh win!!1!** good tank in EQ2, unlike EQ1. They have many AOE melee and spell attacks, as well as good taunts and buffs, great defense save only to fighter as well as good melee damage, save only to fighters. They are an all-around great hybrid with a history of respect and admiration. And of course, the HOLY STEED! <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> This benefit of the Paladin class is far and above the most significant of all the classes in my opinion. Not so much for the physical benefits of moving through the world a bit faster than others, but by the respect and awe that other folks have when they see us on our Holy Steeds. This brings back images of great knights and valiant kings and noble battles. This, along with a "Sir" title (which they haven't determined in their great wisdom needs to be a part of the game yet), that would complete the "persona".Bottom line is, EQ2 has finally done justice to the Paladin class, in my opinion. In EQ1, my paladin had to run from most "blue" mobs solo, and he was even "tweaked" with nice full plate armor and a nice magic sword. Pathetic. But finally, in EQ2, my Paladin can hold his head high, because he is one tough S.O.B.! I can take out most solo oranges by myself (very tough fight, but I usually win), yellows are great fights, but I will almost always win. Whites and below are barely a concern. Plus, it seems that I am a better tank many times than the fighters are! Just my own observation, not necessarrily a fact.Anyway, Paladins, in my opinion are the most respectible and honorable class to play in the game, and now, EQ2 has given them the power to live up to their legacy and not be just another worthless hybrid class!Valoric Soulseer - Level 22 Human Paladin - Permafrost Server

<DIV>I chose Paladin purely for the whole good vs evil thing. I'm RP'ing him as a Holy Warrior fighting for good - you know, wandering the land, wiping out evil charecters yadda yadda. I am sooo looking forward to reaching the Commonlands, though I daresay many of the Guard's there will have heard of me and made preparations. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>They better had, because there's a storm coming in the form of a lunatic Barbarian, propelled by a Holy Steed and a barrel of lager. :smileywink:</DIV><p>Message Edited by Spirited on <span class=date_text>12-03-2004</span> <span class=time_text>10:25 AM</span>

Thanks for the input so far. I really like what I have seen with Paladins, and I can't wait to be one myself. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>The thing I like is simply being a good tank. I've played casters in just about every other online world. There is just something exciting about walking into a group of 6 mobs and saying "Come get some!". Then you taunt 'em which has the perfect animation, and they all attack you. It's a blast.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I also like being in charge of keeping everyone else alive by keeping the attention focused on me. It gets a little standing in the back and casting spells for massive action. Being a good tank has more of a "down on the front lines" type feeling.</DIV>

<DIV>I like the class so far. I played a Paladin in the first online game I played (DAoC) so I decided to be one here too. I like being a "tank." The great thing we have going for us is that, yes, we can tank, but no, we're not the best. We're the best secondary tanks. All the abillities we get can be used to directly support ourselves while we're tanking, or to support the main tank and keep him from falling.</DIV>

<DIV>I enjoy the verstility of being a paladin. Not just the aggro control skills of the guardian but still with the ability to tank. Nice having the spells too.</DIV>

I'm going Iksar Paladin myself, currently level 18 I am just now starting the Paladin quest. What I am looking forward to are the small heals *backup in case priest goes down or some emergency,* the rez ability later on, being able to semi-tank or being able to switch from front of the pack to backup if needed. But most importantly it's for the roleplaying reasons. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
