<DIV>I decided to finally stop being lazy and run to the Commonlands to finish that portion of the Jboots heritage quest race. I ran through Nektulos without a map and found the Commonlands just fine. On the way back I got a bit of aggro but nothing serious, and they left me alone after awhile.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Something else happened though that is amazing. Later that night when I checked my journal I noticed I had a Hallmark quest, the same type you get when you had to become a citizen, level 10 class or level 20 class. It said that I heard voices in Nektolus Forest directing me to a certain spot. I apparently found that spot in my aimless wandering and the next stage is to seek out a Nomad in Nektolos Forest.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone have any idea what Hallmark quest I could have stumbled on since I'm currently almost level 24? I thought they had to do with the early class choices only, and after that there wouldn't be any more.</DIV>

Yeah, I got that at level 12. The only part that I have done is talked to the nomad, he's near the Commonlands zone in Nek. He gives you a book to read which updates the quest. It says to find some waterfall in Nek, I haven't looked for it yet.

I guess I'll have to turn un-lazy again and head back to the Commonlands zone in. I heard folks talking about the waterfall portion of the quest but can't remember I read it. Guess I'll have to do some searching too.</DIV>
<DIV>Ooo nice, perhaps it's the quest that'll tell us what happened to Neriak?? :smileyhappy:</DIV>

<DIV>You've stumbled on a Heritage Quest (Quests for items from EQ1). These show up as Hallmark Quests.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have no idea which one though. =P</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Did some work on this quest. I think it's the quest to get access to Nektropos Castle. You can find Timber Falls by running north along the west bank of the large river in Nektulos. Then the quest updates and says you need to reach the top of N'Marr's Ascent, the loc for the bottom of N'Marr's Ascent is around 400, 1, -1200. It's a long stairway up with solo Skele patrolmen and sentries (white and yellow to level 24). Once you reach the top the quest updates and says you need to scout Bone Lake. After reaching the top of N'Marr's Ascent follow the path out north then west and when you get to the river follow it all the way up steam to Bone Lake. I had to run most the way around the west side of the lake to get the next quest update. After you scout Bone Lake the you have to go talk to the nomad again. He tells you to kill a Dragoon Lieutenant. I found some a little bit south east of the N'Marr Ascent but they were level 28 and 29 group cons with friends so that's where I am stuck.I found Nektropos Castle when I was up on the Ascent looking for Bone Lake, lots of level 30 aggro baddies!

Shouldn't this be in the access quest section of your journal? Did it change for you later or is it still in the Hallmark section?</DIV><p>Message Edited by Kriterian on <span class=date_text>12-03-2004</span> <span class=time_text>05:47 PM</span>

I ran through there myself at 26 only a couple of days ago and I didn't get any new Hallmark quest. Very strange. Do you recall roughly where you got the 'Quest Journal Updated' hit? <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>for those who have no clue what to do when they get this hallmark quest. first of all you get it no matter what class you are when you cross the bridge in nek forest. second you need to talk to the nomad that is close to commonlands gate, then do a seriose of exploring nek then finding the 3 shrins and blah blah blah, well in the end it gives you access to a castle instance you need to have 3 or more who have the same access (hallmark) quest completed. btw the hallmark quest is an access quest to the castle in nek forest, its not tough to complete but the dungon inside is filled with 30+ mobs, so might want to wait before atempting that place.</DIV>

<DIV>My level 40 Paladin friend told me the quest is for a fisherman's earing which has enduring breath effect on it. He hasn't completed it, but his friends have. <DIV>Having mooched about and researched this quest I have found out that the access to Nek castle is not the end product. It is a gift about 1/2 way into the quest, as you enter the castle it updates the quest and continues. The end result is, as far as I have been told, a nice Enduring Breath Earing, by all accounts the first stand alone, non cast, EB item in the game.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Myself, i'm up to the dragoon leutenant.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><STRONG>WARNING</STRONG> : After running the ascent and gathering agro for a portion of this quest you are faced with 3 opttions: -</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>(1) Run down and hope you make it back to commons.</DIV> <DIV>(2) Die on the spot.</DIV> <DIV>(3) Run North and hope you outrun them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><STRONG>DO NOT RUN NORTH, NEVER DO 3 !!!</STRONG></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>North of the ascent is a group of treants and the BIGGEST giants I have ever seen. They whooped my sorry tail and 4 corpse runs later I was still unable to retrieve my shards. 112% exp debt, 5 lost shards and 72 hours later I am finaly ready to play again without exp debt.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>To make matters worse, at the time of this happenning I was level 19, with my class quest completed and was looking forward to dinging as a Brigand <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Bloodshade.</DIV> <DIV>Dumbest explorer this side of Nek woods.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

The fishbone earring starts as a Heritage quest in Thundering Steppes docks. It is however true that one of the steps requires you to enter Nektropos Castle and battle it's leader. Doing that without having Access would be challenging to say the least.I believe the only reason this quest is marked as a Hallmark instead of an Access is because a Hallmark doesn't take up a slot in your journal (a bad thing for a quest that auto-adds to your journal to do).Oh, and I found it my second time through nek, right on the first bridge from the commonlands. As an add-on, the loc 400, x, -1200 is in the middle of the river just south of waterfall. I finally found the ascent at loc -400, x, -1200 <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><p>Message Edited by Khael- on <span class=date_text>12-06-2004</span> <span class=time_text>04:42 AM</span>
