Ok i died a few times too before figuring it out.... Dont have to kill anything. Click on the rescue people... then go to front and talk to the dwarf that escapes... then your done.
<DIV>I was stuck to and followed your explanation, but it still doesn't work for me. I have zoned into the place. Killed some of the gnolls (i know i don't have to kill any but I didn't see a way around some of them). The ones I have killed are the two roaming mobs in the ravine where you spawn, the two guarding the exit to the same ravine, and the two prison guards.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have tried clicking on and hailing the hostages, but no matter what I do there isn't a dwarf back at the entrance waiting for me. What am I still doing wrong?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any help would be appreicated.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Merovech</DIV> <DIV>18 Crusader</DIV> <DIV>Befallen</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>For some reason he took a couple minutes for me to spawn when I did it in Beta. Eventually the ugly dwarf showed up and I went on my merry way. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just out of curiosity, how long have you been waiting for the dwarf to show up?</DIV>
<DIV>I first hailed the hostages and then ran back to my entry point. Since I didn't see a dwarf, I then ran back and clicked on each hostage. I ran back again to the entry point and didn't see any dwarf either. Where does he spawn? And do the hostages respond to you when you hail them? They don't for me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I got so frustrated that I just camped and logged off for the night. Hopefully I'll be able to figure it out so I can complete the thing tonight.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Merovech</DIV> <DIV>18 Crusader</DIV> <DIV>Befallen</DIV>

He spawns where you started basically... But i did run in circles for 5 minutes before i went to front and say him... so maybe you just need to wait a little and then go over there.
<DIV>As I am still at work and can't try waiting in-game until I get home, one more question...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Do I need to do anything with the barricade entrance that is holding the hostages in? I know that I have two choices to click on and (from experience) neither work. Do I need to chose one of these too before waiting for the dwarf to show up?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Merovech</DIV> <DIV>18 Crusader</DIV> <DIV>Befallen</DIV>

<DIV> You don't click the hostages at all, you double click part of the barricade and it breaks open. Then the hostages run to safety by themselves and you go to the dwarf.</DIV>
<DIV>I have clicked on the "clickable" part of the barricade (the part that lights up). And I have chosen both to quietly open it (which a message pops up saying it doesn't work) and then I chose to break it down (and a message pops up saying it doesn't work and that I have no altered the gnolls to my presence). I have yet to log on today, but the only thing I can think of is that does it matter from what side I click on the barricade. Do I have to be outside or inside the thing to get it to open? Currently I have only tried from the outside.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Merovech</DIV> <DIV>18 Crusader</DIV> <DIV>Befallen</DIV>
<DIV>Just want to thank everyone for their advice. Got it to work finally. Have to kick it a few times from INSIDE the the barricade.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks all.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Merovech</DIV>

<DIV>I just wanted to thank you all for posting this, after dying three times I came here to see if I could find any info on the trials and found this. After I read it, I passed it the first time. Same here - thanks for posting this, i completed it last night after previously dying at L18.All mob cons were at level 19 - Zone into the instance- Walk up the valley a little and attack the two patrolling green mobs- Walk up a little more and pull the two green's guarding the bridge.- Watch out for the three roaming yellow con linked mobs, I avoided these- At the end of the vally turn right youll see two prison guards watching over a wooden fence with NPC's behind- Kill the two green guards at the baracade (fence)- Right click and select to open it QUIETLY- Repeat clicking and selecting QUIETLY until the gate vanishes (took me three attempts)- Dodge the yellow patrolling mobs and head back down the vally- Talk to the dwarf- Your then near steeps towerm catch a flight back to qeynos and talk to the trainer to complete
<DIV>D'oh. OK, back into the game to do it this way. I almost killed the wandering yellows, but lost. if I had some form of healing potion I could have killed them, but they are tough... let's do a corpse recovery there now and see if I can do this without fighting them... Especially since I was about to post the question as how to kill the pack leader and his fellows.</DIV>

<DIV><FONT color=#66ff00>I got an alarm message when I selected "open quietly" so ended up kicking it in, and escorting 'em out - the Yellow patrol was in the way and I'm not sure if they were just wandering or if they were summoned by the alarm, but it made my eyes go big as saucers and made the encounter much more exciting at the end.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>I didn't read this forum before I did my paladin quest.. If I had, I would have followed the nice instructions to just open the gate and sneak past all the wandering mobs..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I just had to post thought because I did the quest, and I actually DEFEATED all the wandering mobs before letting the prisoners go. It took me 4 tries, but it can be done.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was level 19 and I was using the 2h Willow Wood Maul, and pretty good armour. Timing your skills/spells/ and power usage was the key. I finished with about 15% health and 5% power on one of the fights.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Bad **ZOMG** Barbarian Paladin Kelvin</DIV> <DIV>Toxx Server</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
