<DIV>Hi,</DIV> <DIV><BR>I'm thinking I want to have my Ogre do the betrayal quest so he can become a paladin. Anybody in Beta do this and have any tips or advice for me? I was in beta, but I spent all my time doing druidy things, and I'm kinda clueless on the fighter stuff. Anyway, thanks in advance. :smileywink:</DIV>

<DIV>I didn't do, it, but I know what it entails. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Basically its alot of work. As a little bit of a spoiler....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You have to kill 500 Gnolls to come to Qeynos. Thats half way to the Title isn't it? If you want to do it though, you should. It would be cool if you did the betrayal.</DIV>

<DIV>Only do the Betrayal quest if you are ABSOLUTELY sure that is what you want. Besides being long and hard, it will test your patience and sanity to the max if you have bad luck on named spawns.</DIV>

<DIV>I was thinking about doing the same thing with my Troll.  I still can't decide if I would rather be a Shadow Knight or a Paladin though.</DIV>

The betrayal quest is only hard in the sense that you have to gather up a group to kill each of the named spawns outside of Blackburrow. The two inside BB, no problem because there are plenty of groups there.Even with friends it is hard to pull them away from xping so you have to spend time asking in ooc and shout for help. I just had a great little group of complete strangers pull together to help me kill Towyn the Lazy after he popped on his beech. Killing 500 gnolls, while time consuming is not hard. You can do about 100 pretty quickly in BB with a decent group. I think I was in there today and we probably rattled off about 75 in about an hour. I still have about 150 more to go.Its not the hunting for names that will try your patience so as getting people THERE when they have spawned. Dancord was up just before the servers went down this morning and I begged and pleaded for help to no avail and missed him. I'm personally hoping that I can get my DE through it before the end of the weekend depending on the availability of friends. Problem is none of my friends can pick a character to play and haven't progressed past level 10 yet as they are cycling through characters so fast it makes my brain hurt.Karron Mourningblade -> lvl 16 DE Crusader, Steamfont Server

<DIV>I am an ogre paladin on Nektulos server, i was also the only ogre paladin in beta. Personally i like it, you just have to turn on anonomous otherwise u get spammed with tells like wow ur ugly or wow ur big. Atleast i see someone else thought of it, i had one person walk up to me and was like cool, im changing my barbarian to ogre now that i see how big you are what you look like in plate. </DIV>

<DIV>well the one reason im doing My Dark elf is the Fact she is (still Playing her sorta in Eq1) not only welcome in Felwithe, Kelethin,  and Rivervale, but the fact that she was bestowed the prestigious Membership in the Koda'Vie, and started actually doing Quests meant for High Elf Paladins. EQ1 started her story, and I am very happy to see EQ2 let me actually Finish the story. If I could easily Betray Neriak in the First game, (must have killed around 1000 Dark Elf Guards) then Freeport should not be that much of a problem here. cant wait till I hold an Epic weapon with this Dark Elf</DIV><p>Message Edited by Yilonda Stormwalker on <span class=date_text>11-18-2004</span> <span class=time_text>09:24 PM</span>

Seriously do not even start this quest if you dont want to see it through, some of the so called Higlights- Loosing your spirit shard in the overloards room, having weakened stats for 3 days REAL time- Realising you have loads of copper and cant get to a bank to change it to silver- Realising theres only one smithy you can use to repair your items- Having to farm 500 Gnolls- Seeking the 2 named in BlackBurrow only to find some group kill it as your trying to explain you need it- Seeking the 4 named in Antonica, then trying to plead in /ooc for help but not really getting any- Talking to a NPC in the middle of yellow con agro mobs- Not being able to complete the start of the quest till 16 (well i couldnt)- Not being able to level past 17 until you have finished the quest in its entirity- Answering the questions of 3 NPC's (approx 18 questions) and being fined 2 gold for each WRONG answer, you cant continue till you've paid- Watching an EXP group go into a deep dungeon, then for them to all TELEPORT out leaving you alone.**ZOMG** it was a fun quest... will never ever ever do it again.<p>Message Edited by Tears_UK on <span class=date_text>11-22-2004</span> <span class=time_text>01:28 PM</span>

<DIV>I say do it! I'll be working on my paladin quest tonight as an ogre.  And in my opinion the betrayal quest was pretty easy.  Hardest part for me was running through Nektulos.  Other than that if you got a healer friend just start slaughtering poor grey and green con gnolls.  Then all you need is a group, just someone that can heal and some extra dps will do, and go named hunting.  The end.  Also, about the gold thing for wrong answers.  All you have to do is be honest and tell the npc you commited treason, murder, etc....and it won't cost you anything.</DIV>

<DIV>I'm an Ogre in antonica going for the betrayal quest to become a Paladin myself. I'm doing the 500 gnolls and the named spawns right now as we speak.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have a dire question that needs answering though and this seems like the perfect place. What is the max level you can hit while on this step of the betrayal quest? 17 or 18?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What will happen if you try to advance past those levels? Will it not let you finish the betrayal quest or will it stop your experience bar from advancing like it does before you finish the citizenship quest or the level 9 class quest?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am level 15, nearly 16 and I was going to stop my experience bar one yellow bar from 17 but if I don't have to that would rock. Any feedback would be excellent, thank you.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ccffff size=4>- Valcutio <FONT color=#ff0033>Phoenix </FONT>/ <FONT color=#333333>Blade</FONT><FONT color=#006600>zilla</FONT> Killa -</FONT></DIV></DIV>

You do keep getting XP after 17 when on betrayer, you just won't "ding" 18 until you finish it (If it is like the Isle of Refuge you'll cap at level 17 +220% XP or basically 20% into level 19). I did still get my level 18 powers when my XP wrapped over, just no "ding". <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />I wish they would have made the quest harder, I did it in beta so it was pretty easy for me, but I'd rather see less evil races on the good side. <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><p>Message Edited by Darkith on <span class=date_text>11-23-2004</span> <span class=time_text>02:14 PM</span>

<DIV>Got my Dark Elf crusader to the good side this morning on Tox.  It may not have been the hardest aspect of my life, but its far from being a cakewalk compared to other quests, don't let these people fool you by saying its too easy.  Although admittedly, the hardest part was just getting through the parts leading up to Antonica.  Serpent Sewers were rough, and make **ZOMG** sure you know where the docks are in Nek before you go go looking for them.</DIV>
