Hey,

I have just returned from a long break from EQ2. Now I see that some of the SK's I knew have either quit or changed main character because the SK "sucked". I hear that we no longer can hold the aggro well and we have nothing to offer on a raid. This got me a bit worried, so I thought I'd check with you guys in here. Have things changed for the worse in the last say 4 months? Or did it change for the worse and then EoF came and made us a bad mofo class?

I really need to hear some of you guys' oppinions and experiences in the higher lvl game. I should just add here that I do not own the expansions KoS or EoF; I only have DoF and the adventure packs Bloodlines and Splitpaw. I can't get my hands on any of the expansions before February as my money is tied to other RL projects until then.

Cheers,
Ves

Things got better, tanks in general are the least desirable to have in excess for a raid... but thats not an SK issue. I wouldn't want to play any other tank class.

We have better snap aggro with the Death March change, we have siphon mit, and some other goodies. we also, probably thanks to the PvP servers, have some outstanding raid MT sks that seem to hav eno trouble holding aggro.

you need to have these expansions before you can get Achievements and spend them, but you can get all of the updates that they made to the class that are not expansion related.

If you buy EoF in the retail box, you get all previous expansions, for 39 bucks

I am in total agreement Xan, I think SKs now are even more valuable to a raid then ever before. With DM, Debuffs, and a great MT/offtank role we're not in any way in bad shape at all.

Xanoth wrote:Things got better, tanks in general are the least desirable to have in excess for a raid... but thats not an SK issue.
I think this is a VERY good post and i am eager to reply off of it. I will admit, i was one of them SK's. In previous months i kinda gave up on my SK, made a chanter and lvled it up for raid use. Now, in retrospect what i can remember was [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]ing alot about how sk taunts sucked and we always had a little trouble tanking. well that was because i was always trying to compare myself to a guardian or a berserker. Well, since the EoF changes, soe gave sk's alot of lovin, they have improved are tuants by leaps and bounds, and the sk class tree, well, less just say, its [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] amazing. Now threw all of this, i have learned 1 huge thing....and this comes from years of experience playing my shadowknight since eq2 launch. Sk's are a tricky class to play when your in a main tank position in a grp or raid. what i have learned is to use my ae's in tandom with my tuants to acrue a massive amount of hate gain. Now the tricky part comes in cause u have to master the way u use your ae's. I can use mine now without ever pullin outside aggro from seperate encounters. it just takes practice....and alot of it lol. if you ever hear anyone say sk's cant tank worth [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn], A) they dont play an sk, or B) they suck [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] at playing there sk lol. we can tank just as good as the other plate class's, we are just different. and Siphon hate doesn thurt aswell lol. I can honestly say, since EoF has come out my chanter has taking a seat on the backburner, and it feals [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] good to be playing MY SK full time again..........ALL HAIL THE DARK LORDS!!

Listat Shevi`it <70 Shadowknight>

Champion of the Shadow

When you add the cdkey to your account, the launchpad will patch all files to you. I can confirm that it works, I havent seen a EQ2 cd for .... ever ..

Ok, so if I understand you correctly then the quote means that I need to have the basic game's files installed? Meaning that as long as I have the launch pad up and running, I only need to register the expansions' CD keys and then the launch pad downloads them?

That's basically how I DL'd EQ2 when I came back, I'd long ago lost my CDs. It should work fine. It'll take a while, but eh...

Tap Viens and Blessing with a good healer and it takes a lot to take me down. Make sure your healer knows that youll be pulling mroe than one group though, I have grouped with a few healers that really get mad that I pull so much at one time. Those are the healers you know havent grouped with many SKs. If they did they would know that SKs excel in large groups of mobs.
