I've started an SK and I'm enjoying at a lot. I'm duo'ing with my wife, she's on a Defiler, which seems to work well. I'm wondering what AAs I should get, and what order I should be getting them in? I'm interested in know about both KoS and EoF AAs, particularly (though I notice most of the EoF AAs apply to skills I don't have yet, at 16).

I notice a lot of people recommend 4/4/8 in INT, though obviously I use a shield most of the time (as I'm tanking), so the Symbol nuke would probably only get used for pulling or single mobs. I suspect +68% spell crit would more than make up for those points being "wasted", though!

I'd also be interested in any advice on what order to get my AAs at, and if there are any levels where it would be a good idea to lock adventure XP and purely increase the AA points.

4-4-8 INT should be the first priority. The small nuke you get with the symbol is ok, but the spell crits are your bread and butter. Also, when your lifetaps crit, the heal from it also crits. Spell crits will also help make up for the lack of damage the defiler does. You will be the tank and the dps. The defiler is a great duo parter for the survivability aspect. Big hp buffs, wards, and debuffs will be very handy.

4-4-8 int is the best allocation for your 1st 16 points (actually 17 since you need to open the tree with 1 point), (since SK spells are mostly lifetaps it boths increase your damage and amount you can heal for). no point to go past 4-4-8 in this line and this is must-have line, I bet 95% of SKs have 448int

next you can either pick sta (extra HP, extra AE, melee crits), str (haste, hate, faster CA recast) or wis (bonus to skills, hp regen) or a mixture of 2. either is fine just pick something which fits your play style

agi is not that great due to the fact that you need to be on horse to get adventage of this line

from EoF line I would say wait a little and see which spells you are using the most and enhance them (personally I think enhancing drain vitae, death march, slam, tap veins, blessing is a good investment and I like siphon hate (may not be that useful if you mostly duo, but for a full groups it's really nice), planning to test reaver at some point but atm I can't say if it's worth to go for it or not

None of the skills are really good on their own, but together they add up. Like so much else with the sk. Takeany skill out and look at it and its not much. Put em all together and you have a powerhouse.

Me being geared for solo play, I must say I like the reaver line. Yesterday two of my guildies wanted to get some free aa points for their locked pvp lowbies, so we head out to clefts for me to kill the nameds with them in the group. (Yeah, they get the aa this way.) and since they couldnt just run up to the nameds because of aggro, I cleaned it up. Pulling a room at a time and killing them. At 55, thats a lot of blue con solo mobs at a time. They were 26, so they spent the time chaincasing their roots to build up subjugation.

He's 46 atm and might be different kind of defiler when he's 70.. He is working on EOF 35% dmg to dots and also working on witchdoctor line to get 100% melee crit etc so he can have better dps to support me while healing me good. I don't need heavy duty healing tho for duo cuz of reaver line that I just completed that stacks nicely with Defiler. My health usually go back to 100% with ward in effect and he doesn't even need to heal me cuz my lifetaps+reaver will just heal myself back to 100% while ward will just absorb any new damage.. Slow is pretty nice and makes hard mobs easier to handle as well as debuffs..

We trio sometimes as SK+defiler+warlock = Mean AE dps team and they all work on poison+disease area as well.

Message Edited by Nocifer Deathblade on 12-19-2006 10:01 AM

if it wasn't clear I was refering to Reaver ability at the end of the line as something I am not sure if it is useful or not because I didn't test it yet, reaver line is really nice I was actually suprised how much lifetap proc can contribute to overall DPS and I really like better heals on blessings
