Hey Guys. I'm looking to roll a PvP toon and was liking what a saw from the skill lists of the shadowknight. I am still learning this game and was curious on how the shadowknight fares in PvP. Do they get kicked in the teeth or can they survive and do well. Thanks for the help!

depends what level range you are inquiring about.

Personally, I hit 70 about 4 months ago.

my kill vs. death ration was about 300/200

4 months later, I am 1875/265

originally I built myself to be tank&mit heavy for the PVP battlegrounds. I invested into resists and mitigation, then realized, most fights won't last more than 2-3 minutes, and it comes down to the more DPS you can dish out, the better chance of success.

As a group PvP "tank" - your job will be to taunt, and get the enemy off your healers and other members who dish out the dps.

Message Edited by Zanix on 12-04-2006 02:26 PM

They are good from 20 and up. You just have to learn to play them well, and get mastercrafted gear.

You have to play really smart and watch you ars alot, you will get eatn alive solo unless you use your HT correctly, but then no one can own you 1 vs 1 yes even yellows.

Whats really fun is pwn a really high red, depending on the class i have smoked lots of oranges and reds solo if i felt ballsy.

AA is very very important go with int line 8/8/8 first thing that will give you 69% spell crit which is all your DPS and helps your touch too. Iv Crit a Touch for 4K at level 34 no one can take a hit like that muhahahahah

The bad thing is without your touch your not much of anything, others wont agree but its teh honest truth ;( your ward and life taps help but being an off tank in a group is where we really shine. I drop the shield go with a symbol and can drop bombs like you wouldnt belive ( 69% crit helps

With that setup you can match dps of mages and scouts and take a beating like a tank.

BattleMage FTW!

Bad thing is healers hate us due to our poor taunts

SK's fare very well in pvp. the Blessing line (our lifetap damage shield) is our key to success. Our damage output is good for a tank class, but knowing when to use it is what sets a good SK from a bad one. Some classes can't be burned, but must be outlasted...that is something you learn over time.

you AA's are a vital part of successful pvp. you will want to go 4/4/8 Int - 4/4/8 Wis - 4/4/8 Sta

Int is obvious for the spell crits. Wis is key for the Battle Leadership buff that will allow your taunts and spells to land more consistantly. Sta is for Hammer Ground. You will come to love the group stun/knockback in both pvp and pve. Do not waste AA points on straight stat bonus, stay at the minimum 4 points for Int/Wis/Sta. You will have 1 AA point left over, put it wherever you wish.

Lots of people will try to tell you that SK's are nothing with HT. don't believe them. learning to play your SK without using HT will make you infinately better. Use HT as a tool, not a crutch. SK's are one of the most well rounded classes for pvp and can beat the majority of classes without HT. Sure there are classes we can't beat without it, but that's the nature of pvp. you will learn when to use it.

As far as gear goes...it's slim pickins at low level. Go for resist gear before stat gear. Unfortanately, Mastercrafted is pretty much the best you can get at low level unless you have enough coin to buy lower tier fabled gear...but that is rarely for sale. For stats, try to find good Int gear for increased spell damage, Wis for across the board resist increase, and Sta for hp. We are caster tanks, so Str isn't needed as much.

Message Edited by Venymous on 12-07-2006 02:06 PM

Mages should be more of a fight. On druids, you will probably need HT at that level.

Message Edited by roxer2b on 12-11-2006 02:07 AM
