Ive recently come back to the game to try of EoF. I have a 64 monk, who pretty much only solos, and I like his ability to do so. I would like to experience the low levels a bit, and have level a fay wiz to 20, but dont like his low ability to escape screwed up situations. I am just wonder if Shadow Knight is a pretty viable solo class if i want to stay away from the cloth wearers. I realize that all classes can solo, but I like the comfort and self sufficency of a monk. Will I be disappointed by the SK?

Thanks

Oyer

Shadowknights solo better than any other plate class, and are actually one of the better soloing classes, especially once you get all your lifetaps, final one is an aoe lifetap, Tap Veins, at level 55, it's an ancient teaching. Shadowknights shine when surrounded by a multitude of enemies.

Hi...

I must be honest, and firstly say that my ShadowKnight is only a baby at lvl 43. However I am an Ex EQ1 players of many years, and also played all the other Mmorpgs, including the one we cant mention..he he.

Anyway I also tried EQ2 on release, and sadly gave up on it after a month or so, as i found it was not what I expected. Zoom forward 2 years to now...

Decided to give EQ2 another try, and started a SK. All I can say is FANTASTIC! I would have to say that the New EQ2 SK is exactly what i have been searching for for the last 6 years of online games. A few things to give you a little insight in to the new EQ2 SK class...

Firstly dont judge your new SK til he is lvl 14. This is the level you get your Master 2 in your triggered lifetap ( lvl 12 spell i believe ). From this point the fun starts. As far a soloing is concerned we do very well. Our survivability is excellent with all our lifetap procs and spells. About 80 % of our damage comes from spells, we really are in my opinion a battle mage rather than the watered down EQ version. I have soloed at every level, and with relative ease. There is a lot to learn and master, but you have all the tools needed to solo very well.

I am lead to believe this will only get better after lvl 55 with Tap Veins ( cant wait ). Something else worth mentioning is... We are alot of fun too! We Dps rather well, and get plate armour, and also our spells have some fun graphics too. All in all I love my SK more than any other toon I have ever played. We are not overpowered, infact we are in my view, one of the most balanced toons every created. I get a little buzz of excitement every time i log on, and i would finish by saying I think that ShadowKnights are one of the best kept secrets around. Roll one, play one and have lots and lots of fun!

Regards

Vannilla Dark

I have a 66 monk and after EoF he might be heading to retirement. 29 hurt a lot.

Now my Sk just hit 52 last night and he is doing great. My SK has always been a better soloer than my Monk but EoF and 29 have made him really a blast to play. I am going back and forth between my SK and my 55 Fury (who EoF was also very nice too).

SK soloability got improved nicely with reaver EOF aa line. I loved SK in EQlive as lifetap machine now I feel like becoming one in EQ2. I love seeing lot of heal+dd crits so frequently. INT line AA spell crit+ EOF reaver line is a truly making SK a true REAVER.. Fear the Reavers!

Putrid coil gives nice 60 hp healed per tick at max rank but it can be critted for 90 hp healed per tick for me. Very nice..

HarmTouch first rank is 270 hp healed. I assume 5th rank would give 1350 hp healed and could be critted for 1755 hp..

Grave blessing master 1 goes nicely with 35% heal boost. 333 hp healed for 5 times based on my stats would be increased to 449 hp or critted for 584 hp a pop. I pre-ward myself before every yellow heroics in COV and Obelisk runs and Grave blessing served me very well. Big difference when I didn't pre-ward myself. 35% heal boost is a very welcome change and goes nicely with INT AA line.

Twisted Aura of 8% proc goes up to 13% proc is very nice as well harming mobs and heal myself more often..

Faster recast on Lifetap dd and AE lifetap along with some nice fabled gear that further reduce the recast time of lifetap makes the lifetap into invaluable spell of all.

Final ability looks very potential once revised for better. In it's current form, it gets worses as you get stronger in gear (more hp)..

Reaver line+hate line (get 3% hate transfer) combo would be nice combo for Reaver along with INT AA line.

Adding Innoruuk cloak for more life stealing ability.

All of above combined makes SK into truly a menacing Reaver for solo and as MT as well. I feel like becoming a lifesucking vampire already as I earn more EOF AAs into reaver line.

Message Edited by Nocifer Deathblade on 11-24-2006 07:11 AM

last night I killed general lonetusk, a lvl 18 ^^^ grouped with two single arrow down healers. I killed lonetusk and his minions first try with over 25% health and 35% power left....and i was...drumroll please...lvl 21. level 21 and took out a named heroic 3 levels lower...whats more, i didnt even have to use harm touch! it never even got close enough for me to even bother using it. granted, almost all my spells are adept 3 or master 1 with really nice gear, but still, even twinked out for any class to be able to take a named underconned heroic only 3 levels lower? i would say definatly good at soloing.

Just takes a bit of time.I love my sk, but my coercer takes down harder target with much, much worse gear. (Really, I can take down named mobs 4 levels above me naked. Done it just to prove I could for a sceptic.) Do that with a sk. but yeah, sks are really really nice. I love mine as well.
