<DIV>I looked through the PVP boards and didn't see much on tactics for dueling other classes... I haven't played on a PVP server since EQ1, though thinking about making an alt there. I have only dueled a 4 times. Once against a mage a lvl higher then me that blasted me in seconds (my first duel) then against equal level Assassins.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have enjoyed dueling in other games, EQ1, SWG, and want to do more of it here. What, if any, are suggestions/guides to dueling certain classes. I can only offer the plan that worked on the Assassins, and smoked them in no time, without the use of my harm touch line. I am curently lvl 57.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thank you to those willing to offer advice or share stories. I'm sure there has to be a way to at least hold against every certain class.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Against an Assassin:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Once the duel is arranged, both immeadiately went invis. I put up my Heinous Blessing (Voracious Soul) spell for their initial backstab as soon as the duel timer hits one sec left. Once they attack, normally from behind, I follow with a Soulrend (Kick) for immeadiate knockdown, afterwards my spells seemed to folow like this:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Baleful Wrath to snare and slow them</DIV> <DIV>-Despoiling mist to decrease their mit</DIV> <DIV>-Blasphemy to decrease disease resist</DIV> <DIV>-Infernal Sacrament to disrupt their future invising</DIV> <DIV>-Death Cloud, Unending Agony, Insidious Whisper, and Wicked coil for disease over time</DIV> <DIV>-I try to keep them on their backs by kicking and shield slams in between</DIV> <DIV>-An occasional lifetap</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-/cheer in victory:smileyvery-happy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm sure there are several other ways I could have done it, but won twice this way against 2 different Assassins.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I would like to see anyone else's guides or strategies against other classes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks:smileyhappy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Dueling is one of the neatest things I've enjoyed on my sk. Really though I dont think creating a pattern of attacks is the best strategy, its an issue of using whats right at that moment. The opening post is what got me thinking about the situational requirements. My main has been an assassin for a very long time and in duels it really comes down to reaction time and gear. Dueling a shadowknight months ago is what got me interested in the class, hence the reason I rolled one and have been loving it since. Honestly though, if any class has high enough disease resist entering the duel we are going to be in trouble. Dueling other tanks is usually straight up, keep the damage going life tap etc, we can outlast pretty much anyone. Still though its an issue of watching the opponent and reacting. The formula mentioned in the opening against assassins has some flaws if the assassin has enough dueling experience. For example, using the pet to interupt invis gos only so far, the assassin could easily use an attack to root the pet and then invis buying more than enough time to get decap or some other high damage attack off. If the resists are super high spells will do little damage making melee attacks the key. A strtegy of knock backs and so forth is an excellent move, my worst nightmare in duels when playing assassin, yet it can still be subverted if the opponent uses a stealth move and times a charge to avoid an ae. To end my rambling as I fall half asleep the best plan for a duel is to counter you opponent with resists, after that its an issue of who can get the attacks out fastest and counter their enemy, a set attack sequence can easily be undone.

I have found that dueling healers i like to just sit there let them beat on me and keeping my life tap ward up while power draining them...eventually they go oop and i still have 50-70% power I death March and rip them a new one lol. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> (druids are the funiest because they are like oh i can dps too, but i always buff my heat/cold against them and then they do very little dmg.)About the only class i have problems with is the berserker class...whenever I duel them i am stunned or cant cast from the second the duel starts and usually dont do a single point of dmg because of it.(Any pointers on going up against a berserker? both of us are in raid gear with at least 75% mastered the rest in adepts)As far as spell casters I just shield bash them hand hit them with all my big nukes then knck um back again and put dots on um. If they are still standing after that I start life taping. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

lifetap is our bread and butter, I can kill most people with that and our DoT's alone.<div></div>

<P>Scouts: Toem of the Butterfly = dead Scout.</P> <P>Grave Blessing is your friend in Duels. Check your rez gear vs Magi, mezzers, Mental, Warlock Cold ect.</P> <P> </P> <P>Only class that gives me any trouble is Swashy's, there dam mez is a [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] to work around. Druids are probly the hardest of the healers to kill, dam nukers!</P> <P>War/Zerks are [Removed for Content], Pallies are to, ya just have to wait till the LoH then chew them down.</P> <P> </P> <P>2 Sk's in def stance is like watching paint dry.</P> <P> </P> <P>Disclamer: I'm not a very good PVPer, and I can win 75% of my duels.</P>

<DIV>Thanks for everyone's input, I hope to see alot more coming in... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know there should never be an exact pattern or strategy against any set class... guess I was more looking for what works then a template... I have ony one alt, a lvl 9 Assassin, and haven't played him in over a month or so, so I'm not too savvy on the weaknesses of other classes, except for what I see in the groupings I've dealt with... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any and all input helps... thanks again</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Well played PvP SKs own face. And we use scouts as toilet paper. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>best fight I've had the last few weeks was when a templar and guardian jumped me. They both went oop about the time I had 50% left. And 75% health. The templar was orange, and the guard yellow. they tried several different strats during the fight. It all came down to me using only lifetaps and autoattack to run them oop. (I actually tried to debuff and HT the guard once, but he survived with a sliver of health and the temp got him back up.)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I love fighting low dps classes. Or the fast hitting scouts. Yum, more lifetaps for me. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
