So I was talking to this 70 SK. He said how important starting stats are going to be after EOF? Anyone heard this, that starting stats were going to be more important after EOF? I would hate to get my ratonga SK to like level 50, and then just suck after EOF...

The difference in starting stats are so minimal in the grand scheme of things I can't see how it would make enough of a difference to affect your choice in race imo.

Well he said something like base stats are going to be put into the formula for a lot of things, like damage; which would SUCK... it would make ogres the best for just about every mellee job.

Believe us.. Stats/traits are only flavor to your character.. Just pick a race that you felt connected to and be happy with it. Fae probably is unique one that comes with gliding effect that is not a flavor feel.

So starting stats should have been put in the formulae to begin with, if they truly wanted these stats to not matter.Start with 15 STR, cap @ 70 is 490 + 20, you need to gain 495 STR to hit the cap.Start with 30 STR, cap @ 70 is still 490 + 20, you only need 480 STR to hit the cap. It's easier.Change that to cap @ 70 is 490 + starting stat and no one will be at a disadvantage. Honestly, the differences between the races now are so completely minimal that you should definately go with whatever you want. Go with a Ratonga.EDIT: On reflection, I think what has been said about formulae is that you never will lose damage because you go up a level and are further from the cap. However, this is because they are applying your damage bonus as a positive number from your starting ability rather than a penalty related to the distance you were from the cap.

Message Edited by Milaga on 11-09-2006 12:17 PM

One thing to consider is the fact that racial traditions are going to be revamped very soon. Its the reason why the Fae seem to have very useful ones. (they got them out of the way first)

If sony does this right its going to be great for flavour, but it also could tip the scales in the favour of certain races.

Stats wont matter, racial traits and traditions might, not much you can do about it atm just role what you want to play. (Unless its a hobbit or a gnome, then you need to die) :robotmad:

What you lose in str you make up in INT.

It's been stated that when they update the racial traditions they will not affect combat, so go Ratonga (or other race) if that is what you want to do.

Nocifer Deathblade wrote:

Your comments will become invalid once EOF comes live as all combat changes are in effect that also affects stat caps well beyond 1k..

Perhaps I was a little unclear. I was explaining how stats do matter, but they very easily could have made it so they didn't. The numbers become invalid, yes, but I used them because they are current and what we are all used to.With EOF and the changes made, they don't matter at all.

well correct me if I am wrong but on of the good and bad things about being a shadowknight is that you basicly need all stats.

Str: damage, power

Sta: health

Agi: avoidance

Wis: resists, power

Int: damage

Although I have heard that they are changing some or all of our power pull to Int. Have not seen proof of this yet and am waiting to get home to check out the new stuff in game....sitting at work wishing I could FD fellow co-worker for a laugh.

Post EoF stat usage for SK's: Str: melee damage, power, carrying capacity
Sta: health

Agi: avoidance

Wis: resists

Int: spell damage, power

Note however, that the descriptions in-game aren't updated yet. Mousing over your Wis stat will still tell you that it provides power.
