I still havea a lot to learn about EQ2's more subtle game mechanics, but I'm having a little trouble with something..  I keep reading about SK's having a harder time holding aggro than Guardians.  Could someone explain this to me?  When I compare the abilities of each class, they both seem to have the same about of hate generating abilities.  SOmetimes they aren't granted at the same level but it's always close...  Plus, SK's have an ability (or maybe a couple?) that not only increas hate initially, but  also generates hate over time as well...  Do those abilities not match up to what guardians get?<div></div>

<DIV>No one is supposed to be able to match the pure taunt value of a guardian.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However, we have plenty of agro tools at our disposal and damage too.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Generally if you have someone in your group...brigand...warlock consistently pulling agro, then it's almost 100% guaranteed that they would be pulling off a guardian too.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Plus some players of dps classes are just stupid, they think they are hot [Removed for Content] when the group sees their name on the mobs target.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>70 sk</DIV> <DIV>70 brig</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

and hopefully healers let those people die and then tell em not to do it again. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>I keep thinking that guardians have that buff which procs a taunt 50% of the time when they're hit and SKs don't...?</DIV>

<DIV>And SKs wouldn't possibly have anything like a thread/dmgshield buff for self /gasp</DIV>

Taunt over time can be problematic in some situations, but shadowknights agro generation has got alot better the last few months<div></div>

<P>The thing is .. you have to play like a DD .. especially AoEs are your friend. And you have to know you're a Caster .. so INT is your friend. I often see SKs run around with 50 int and do only around 250 dps .. i don't know how they do that .. but .. i normally do 600-700 dps in groups zonewide .. and thats how i can keep aggro <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>Btw.: I speak about normal groups and not about raids where all other classes but your own does 10.000+ dps <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>Ah.. and in the group of my little 53 woodelf Sk our brigand or fury pulls aggro from time to time since i don't have deathmarch and tap veines .. but as long as they don't die from that .. i can live with it <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P><p>Message Edited by Beldin_ on <span class=date_text>10-19-2006</span> <span class=time_text>08:42 PM</span>

<div><blockquote><hr>CHIMPNOODLE. wrote:<div>SK and guard aggro holding is comparable. </div><hr></blockquote>Yep, I've pulled agro off of a guardian many times during raids and held it. The only time he could get it back is if he used rescue or I stop what Im doing or FD myself. And we do have an AE taunt, Death March. SK agro has gotten A LOT better. If you are in a group and you constantly lose agro to the DPS when you know that you are trying your hardest to keep it, its not you its the DPS. When I group I usually let the mob kill that DPS guy if he pulls agro from me too much. </div>

<P>Very true. For guild raids I'm MT or occasionally a Guard, for my raid alliance it's usually either a well upgraded Guard or me (I'm quite decently upgraded too). </P> <P> </P> <P>The Alliance is a very stable core group, so it's almost always the same people  and raid leader...and close to the same group makeups. When hitting the same zones and mobs...I don't see a difference in the amount of times aggro is lost/stolen. It is even the same people who occassionally overnuke or what not who might draw aggro off either of us even. This is true up to our current dammage output anyway...most parses are 10k to 13K recently for what we are hitting.</P>
