Hello fellow SKs!

As the title of the post states I am seeking some advice as to the state of the game, and if its worth while to reactive my account. I have a 42 sk (among several other mid level toons) on the Everfrost server. I played from release day everday until about November of 2005. I have finished just about every Heritage quest that is offered up until level 42. I left due to boredom last year. I got tired of the (at least imho) the linearity of EQ2. At that time every one went from FP--CL--Nek--EL-- so and so forth (of course it was Q--Ant--TS-- Zek for a goodie). Yes I know that you could cross over to the "Good" content or the "Evil" content, however this really only gave you the choice between 2 zones per level range. Has this changed at all with the new expansions? Does the world feel more open?

How does the SK play with all the changes to the game. From scanning over the forums it sounds like most are pleased with how the SK is going so far. The updated graphic from the [Removed for Content] pet to the skelly seems to be reason enough to come back :smileywink: It sounds like we are THE solo tank class, and it sounds like we put some decent DPS in a group, while being actually desirable for MT. Do we hold aggro well? When I still playing strong, we were past up for a guardian or even a berserker for MT. Is there still a disparity between the fighter sub classes?

Thank you for taking your time in helping me out, and answering my questions.

Message Edited by Jodawen on 10-07-2006 02:55 PM

If I have 3-4 heroic adds, I mig actually slip a mob or two... but heck, thats jsut me being a poor player. And well, you have a bunch of dungeons around to tackle leveling up, and now that the dungeons drop loot all over you, getting people into the dungeons isnt too hard. And with the advent of EoF (1-70 lvl zones) you will have even more choice.

Message Edited by roxer2b on 10-08-2006 05:15 AM

honestly im horrible with dates and not sure when you left, but if you have not been on since the desert of flames expansion then you missed the combat change (patch 13) which entirely changed the way sk's work (and for the better might I add) currently ....and dare I say it, we are actually one of the least broken classes in the game, and have come a long way in the last two years. in fact, FOR THE FIRST TIME I HAVE ABSOLUTLY NO COMPLIANTS as an sk. are spells are awesome if used correctly, we are still versitale enough to switch between tank, off tank, or dps, and over all seem to be a fun class to play. however I must add I dont raid much so I'm not sure if that affects you much. but yes, we still are VERY soloable. in fact I do many group quest solo and get mega AA and regular exp for them, not to mention fair loot anyways im lvl 60 and well be hitting the next tier shortly, but I'm having a fun time, also im in pvp so things are never linear for me, though at my lvl the only places to go without gettting pked are instance like poets palace and ancients table. anyways, with splitpaw chornicles, all the places in dof and kos, and heck even at your lvl you got rivervale, permafrost, the bixie place (forgot what its called) ferrot, cazic thule, and lavastorm you can still check out, and with the way the sk works those places are pretty fun (I tank alot so I always have fun) do we hold aggro well you ask? well that depends who you are. I hold aggro just fine (though the warlocks still get me every now and then) then agian I keep all my spells adept 3 and master 1 at all times, and I also have some really cool pvp aggro pants that actually give me an extra (strong) aoe taunt. (and I tank 90% of the time btw) also we have gotten a radical change to our lvl 58 spell death march, not only does it now cast "on the march" when you trigger it, and still recast it when a mob does, but it gives you CRAZY snap aggro. I mean you have no idea how insane this aggro is. this spell is now more useful then rescue or harmtouch, and not only works aoe wise, but on anything fighting your group out of the encounter you are targeting, so basically you can hold aggro on 2+ groups just in case somebody gets adds, its simply insta aggro, its awesome and I hope the devs never change it (cough). so once you hit lvl 58 aggro problems kinda dissappear (though you can only cast it once every three minutes, even though you shouldnt have to rely on it, but its a great emergency taunt) plus some AA lines can help with aggro, hope that helps. good luck if you come back.

If the main reason you left is because the world felt linear, I think you might still be disappointed. Everything's still partitioned into islands according to level ranges with some overlap (hehe, actually, the whole expansion KoS is a chain of floating isles with progressively higher levels). There's a decent amount of exploration, instances, dungeons, etc, but in the end you'll pretty quickly end up either rolling new alts or progressing down the Ultimate Linear Questline with like 30 some-odd parts that mostly you're going to want a couple friends along for.On the other hand, EoF comes out in a month, has 1-70 content to give you more options, and includes all expansions if you haven't purchased DoF or KoS yet, so you might want to come back to give that a shot. There's also an overland route between all of its zones, believe it or not, so it probably isn't going to feel quite as segmented and linear as everything else so far.
