power consumption sucks at lower levels, currently leveling up a defiler alt myself and power consumption is unreal compared with life at 70 =/

fizzling works by the same mechanic as auto attack. if you play 70 levels using only crushing weapons and then equip a slashing weapon you aren't going to hit anything. the more you use the weapon your skill with slashing will increase. this works the same for fizzle. the more you use your buffs/spells the higher the the governing skill will go (capped by level). once your skill is higher or maxed you will rarely fizzle. or just wait until EoF because fizzle is being removed from the game

It get better as you get higher in levels. Higher level armor/weapons/gear that have higher power buffs on them as well as the fact your power pool gets bigger. Even at higher levels I can lose no life but drain over half my power in a big fight. The lifetap shield (blessing I think) is a huge power suck and it's one of my most cast spells soloing. As a matter of fact, any of the lifetap stuff seems to be high power drain.

As to why you fizzle on your blessing spell? Cause fizzles are of the DEBIL!! Luckily with the new combat changes, they're taking fizzles all the way out, so you won't have to worry about that for much longer. Even if you did, is does get somewhat better as you get higher in level, but it's still more than it should be.

Im currently lvl 37 so Im not TOO far ahead of you.. I found that if I raised my int high as I possibly could with what coin I had then I figured the extra dmg coming off the casting dmg would be more effective than tryin to gain items/stats to add more power. if a mob dies faster than you can run through you complete spell sets 3 times then its all good imo.

So far high STA and high INT items have been my heavy point.. letting my agi slack and my wis.. most items come with some decent Str on them so I really wasnt too worried about str. to cover my wis I shot for items that had high sta, high int, AND some sort high resist 140+ to what ever right now round 37 on any single piece of gear. Now I will admit 70% of my gear is legendary 28% is fabled and 2% is mastercrafted. as for weapons.. fabled and legendary only. I want that heavy hit for inbetween casting spells. higher the dmg the better no matter the stat.

Thats all the info I would have to give bout the power consumption.. sure you will use power but some decent drink w/ stat increase is always worth it to keep your power coming back fast n' smooth.

The trick to your power issues is chain pulling. I see this issue all the time w/ SK's who try & play like Guardians or Zerkers. Chain pulling allows you a 3-6 second lead on all targets nearly securing your aggro w/o draining your power pool. I have often found myself w/ more power then the rest of my group w/o losing aggro. It's funny to see your DPS classes asking for a break & telling them we don't stop until either the healers can no longer heal or I can no longer taunt. Get this tactic down right & the grp will appreciate you more for holding aggro & burning through the XP.

You can refer to my post in this thread http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=9&message.id=23759#M23759 if you need a more in depth explanation. Good luck & make us SK's proud.
