Although it will be a while until I have a go at MTing a raid (pretty laid back guild so I will get a go when I'm 70 with decent gear) - I'm trying to work out what the best group setup would be.Int buffs needed, Hate gain buffs, Mitigation ...Would it be something like:

SK

Templar

Defiler (Mystic if can't get one)

Dirge

Coercer

Fury

Or is a warrior a better choice than Fury? An assasin for even more hate transfer? Something else again? Please no whines about class balance, nerfing warriors, why aren't they tanking ........... Just what the best MT group setup would be for a SK as MT.(or if its already been discussed - I can't see it in first few pages, a link to a thread would be good)

warrior would be a waisted spot if you have the SK tanking... in that group might as well have the warrior tank and the SK give him armor...

It sounds like your guild is just getting into raiding. 2nd poster is correct tho - warrior is better off tanking if he is equally geared & skilled as you are. As a budding raiding guild most MT equipment will be mostly legendary, an SK as the back-up tank is definitely not a bad idea for our PoA to make up mitigation on the MT & also so you can take advantage of all the grp buffs in MT Grp 1 should the MT go down.

Regarding Fury or Warden for an SK tank grp. A Fury makes up for our weaknesses much better then a Warden does. Also, you will prob appreciate the 30 secs of Urchin on the intial pull until you are mit capped w/o it. If your facing mobs w/ heavy elemental damage or power drains - switch back to the warden.

Ok, if I'm doing a usual run such as labs, I usually roll with: SK/Warden/Defiler/Templar/Dirge or coercer and a Conjy. If I need added MIT for a particular mob, we replace the warden with a crusader (usually a pally because I'm the only SK that raids in my guild) and if I need extra hate gain we remove the warden for either a coercer or dirge (which ever we don't already have in the group) or a swashy/assassin. Hope this helps. =D
From my knowledge the Matron hasn't been beaten by anyone and is a bugged encounter (just hear-say to me, I'm not sure as I don't have the exact facts on this mob), but what is wrong with us tanking Chel'Drak? Not flaming, just asking an honest question for anyone that has beaten the mob. What is special about the mob that makes us uncapable of tanking it?

Thanks for the answers"It sounds like your guild is just getting into raiding" Not really, I have fabled gear waiting for when I'm high enough to wear it :smileyvery-happy:Its more the whole ALT thing - our main raid tank is levelling a dirge (as we don't often have one turn up), and he might also be ripe for a change, and for me SK is just fun to play after staring at health bars for 70 levels. The INT buff / urchin thing was why I was thinking furyA minor point - I did ask to leave warriors out of it. Yes, as the templar with the highest raid attendence, and with 2 70/50 guardians and berserkers (and 4 paladins) who aren't (yet) alts and have (currently) much better gear I won't be MTing much, but that is NOT the issue.

I have not...heck I have never heard of an SK tanking MO besides me (not saying there isnt, just never heard of it) and I dont doubt eventually I could tank Chel'Drak as soon as we start trying him....I would just think it would be hard for an SK to tank him over a guard because how hard he hits (torpor is owie) which a guards self mit buff, Tower of Stone and parry buff would help a ton..
