Just wondering through the levels how these two classes compare for soloability, any thoughts from those who've played both or seen both in action would be gratefully received!

" I'd have got any clue that it was about beserkers compared to shadowknights then you're a cleverer fellow than me :smileywink:! As it happens it's not about soloability at all, it's about tanking in raids, so it isn't remotely relevant anyway.

Message Edited by Seffrid on 08-17-2006 04:47 PM

I only played a zerker once till level 30 and till then he was really bad in soloing, also all the zerkers i know don't solo as good as my SK .. however .. i never met one of these uber zerkers i always read from that are dealing 2k dps all the time and solo epics or whatever

Its been a very long time since i played my SK and they are very different now but, I know my berserker who is twinked with mastercrafted and masters solos heroic mobs that are 1-2 lvls lower then she is. Oh sorry i forgot she is lvl 54 now if you need to know that. I could solo mobs like that since lvl 40+. I could solo lord dojorn the lvl 50^^^ named at lvl 50 then again most people could do that as his very simple for his lvl.

But being "twinked" and not doesn't really say that one is better than other solo. Of course a "twinked" toon is going to be better.

Not relevant? Hmm..

Anyway, if you want advice, Shadowknights have an easier time soloing.

IMO SKs have the edge with dirty tricks like FD and HT.
Message Edited by Tyrrax on 08-20-2006 04:36 AM

I have a level 70 SK and a low level zerker, both on PvP servers. I can't comment on high level soloing with the zerker, but so far SKs have the upper hand. They deal a lot of damage (single mob and AE once they get higher) and survive nicely due to their lifetaps and lifetap ward. Evac and FD will also increase your soloing survivability.I think SKs also have the upper hand in PvP due to their abilities but if it comes down to tanking in a group or raid... the zerker wins hands down. They have excellent taunt ability, useful utility and, of course, good mit buffs to keep them alive longer when tanking mobs. SKs have none of these. So to summarise:Soloing: SKPvP: SKTanking: ZerkerUtility: Zerker

If you have a group without a real healer, the sk can get going either way. And with a pally or necro along you might actually do perfectly fine without that healer. After all, yous till keep to yellow heroics for best exp. And other than that, sks manage group tanking about as well. Only problem is that silly snap aggro, and the fix is to have a group that know not to blast away as soon as you have your mob moving in from a body pull.

And the very few raids I've tanked, I had no problem with aggro, but those were very few and t5 so it doesnt really count.

Message Edited by roxer2b on 08-20-2006 08:18 AM

Tanking against a single target, a berserker might be able to pull aggro. if we don't bother to burn one of our three rescues.Tanking against multiple targets ( and there's no reason not to, unless your mit. is God-awful, you Xegonite-toting scumbags.. ), we win, hands down, due to much more frequently reloading AE DoTs, a reactive taunt which procs. every time, instead of a % of the time, and Pestilence / Tap Veins. Berserkers may hold slightly more solid aggro. if they stick to one, or maybe two encounters, but we have a much easier time keeping them glued to us. Don't worry if you happen to have your aggro. stolen by a wizard or warlock using freehand sorcery and Fusion / Apocalypse -- berserkers lose it all the time, too.The only difference in a group setting is that a shadowknight has to work harder for aggro., and be more intimate with all of his tricks, CAs, and spells. If you have a solid shadowknight in the team who busts his [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] and knows his game, instead of thinking he knows his game, you'll be set. An example of what shadowknights're capable of, single-group-tanking-wise:Last night, I started running instances at 1:30 AM.Nest finished at 1:46.Den finished at 2:07Vaults finished at 2:45Halls finished at 3:51_________________Pulling hordes of enemies has its advantages, if you can handle the damage via mit. Tap Veins is more effective as a heal with multiple targets. Anyway, enjoy your shadowknight. With LU27a, we stand to get even better. I can't wait.
