I got conflicting answers on another board, so I thought I'd take it to the experts... If I am lvl 55 and have some armor that is a lvl 42 mit 314, will I only get the benefit of 2 more mit if I upgrade to something that is mit 316? or if that new item is also a lvl 52 item will the difference be greater than just 2 mit because of the lvl of the item itself ? I hope that made sense. thanks.

My understanding is that the mitigation figure will go up by 2. However, the mitigation percentage will go up by more of a significant amount. A better way to think of it is if you had 2 items of the same mitigation figure, but one level 42 and the other level 52. If you swap them out, although each may have the same mitigation figure, you will see your percentage of damage absorbed increase when you mouse over the figure when you equip the lvl 52 gear. I think that's part of the incentive (albeit minor) to upgrade cobalt to xegonite, that even though the mit looks pretty much the same, it won't act like it.

that is kinda what I figured, I just like to hear it from someone else sometimes I know its the same for weapons too, right? like a lvl 42 rated 42.9 weapon wont do as much damage as a lvl 50 rated 42.9 weapon on a lvl 52 mob for example?

oh wow, i never knew that, if what you say is true. but to me thats seems so stupid and counter-intuitive. why wouldn't that just have a more objective rating system. thats so [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] pointless and confusing.

Why are there 2 different values (a mit number and a percentage). There has to be some forumla to make the conversion. Why not just put the percantage (which is what we really care about) on the armor?

Also, does this work like the INT bug for mages. I have armor I bought at lvl 52 with a certain mit which = a certain %, when I level to 53, the number stays the same, does the % stay the same or does it change? Is this % calculation based upon lvl of the item, lvl of the wearer, lvl of MOB?

Finally, why is this such a secret, why can't we get this type of info from a dev posted FAQ?

Message Edited by Soefje on 08-10-2006 05:56 PM

the % depends on your level though, thats the problem.

Total Mitigation / (100*Level) = Mitigation% vs. a mob the same level and ability

Cap Info

Disregard all of the above, save the final post before mine. Regardless of an item's required level, the mitigation number is all that matters. Your level is what determines how much damage is absorbed with a given amount of mitigation: I.E., 3,000 MIT. on a Level 50 is far more damage absorbed than it would be at Level 70. Even an item which is grey to you will have no negative effect on your amount of damage absorbed, just because it's grey. However, because it's grey, it will obviously have a much lower mitigation number than, say, a piece of fabled Level 70 armor.

In the end, you only have to be concerned about increasing your mitigation value. That's all.
