View Full Version : Why doesn't our offensive stance raise our Disruption skill?

Could just go NT here, but want to explain a bit more. The paladin offensive stance bumps up their STR and INT. So their melee damage goes up and spell damage goes up. Then they also get Offensive skill increases and defensive skill decreases like ours. The STR buff increases the damage they also do with CAs, which also have an easier time hitting due to higher offensive skills. The shadowknight offensive stance only increases INT. So while we get he same skill increases and decreases, our spells don't have an easier time landing on higher level mobs, even though they're the only thing that gets increased in power with the offensive stance up.I mean, paladins get an extra resistance through their defense stance, why don't we get an extra skill boost with our offense stance. :pEdit: Then again, why doesn't Defensive stance increase Focus for both classes?

Message Edited by Willias on 08-03-2006 06:16 PM

First off, let me start by asking you to never compare an SK to a Pally. Completely different roles/styles. But ok, you say why not give us an extra buff through our offensive stance? We have Siphon Strength which adds 73 str at M1. Problem solved. Also, if you would like to bump up your Disruption check out or Wisdom AA line. About the extra resistance in defensive stance- we get a Disease/Wisdom buff that bumps our resists up nicely. Btw about 80% of an sk damage is from spells/procs. While Str is nice to have it only increases our dps slightly.

Pallies have no valid debuffs to land on a mob where as we do. We have STR/WIS/Disease/MIT debuffs that we can throw on the mob to increase our overall DPS and the DPS of anyone grouped with us or in a raid with us. Pallies do not. In order to increase their overall DPS the added STR buff on their offensive stance would be necessary, where as we do not need it. IMO, it would overpower us, but it is a nice observation betweenthe 2 classes. Throw up your offensive stance with a pally and see who pushes out more DPS.

Naldir!!!!

This comes down to the Classes ... Shadowknight VS Paladins ...

but now we do have Disruption from 27a ...

As classes go, Shadowknight are born to be more offensive while Paladins are a more Defensive class ... SK's won't be overpowered with Disruption increase... we will land more but doesn't change a whole lot in the outcome.

Nody wrote:

SK's won't be overpowered with Disruption increase... we will land more but doesn't change a whole lot in the outcome.

Yeah, my apologies for comparing Pally to SK. They're similar in some ways, but I do understand that they don't play anything alike.Anyway, yeah. The whole reason I thought Disruption should be on our Offense stance is because the majority of our extra attacks aren't Combat Arts. They're spells, and a buff to Slashing/Crushing/Piercing doesn't do anything for them. The ability to have a higher chance of landing those spells is extremely awesome, and I'd think it'd really help SKs and Pallys do damage in raids. Now all we need is Ministration and Focus skill boosts on our Defense stance, and our stances will finally look like they belong to Spellsword type characters.

For Now, I don't believe Ministration and/or Focus will be put on a def stance or anything... SoE might proove me wrong, but if they would have done, they would have done it in the same LU, but there is still some armor pieces out there that can have those habilities ... Even though they are more Healer alike, we can still use them .
