<DIV>Ok I noticed something for the first time yesterday, and was shocked at how I'd got to lvl 70 taking this for granted...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My reactive lifetap "ward" has been merrily cast on many a tank as I thought I was actually healing him. However yesterday I spotted that the spell description contains the following:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>"When target is hit..." and "Heals caster for ..."</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This seems to indicate that if I cast it on another, its actually me that gets healed when they get hit. Definitely says it heals the caster. The target of the spell is not mentioned when it comes to the healing part.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've yet to study a log, but can anyone comfirm if this is true, or is the wording just wrong?</DIV>

I think it's just a wording thing...I'll have to test and take a look at my logs tonight. I would imagine the same wording on Pally wards and other reactive heals from healers...

Whoever you cast the ward on gains the ability "When damaged this spell casts Voracious Soul on target" Simply put, when the recipient of the ward is damaged, they "cast" the proc therefore the "heals caster" portion affects them, not you. It's also worth it to note that this generates aggro for the TANK and not for you as opposed to other classes reactive heals.<div></div>

for reactives the person who they trigger from counts as the caster.i think the only exception to this is the inquisitors power feed. as im sure thats worded the same but the power goes to them, not you.but in the cae of our reactive, it heals whoever you cast it on, and all hate goes to them. casting the spell still gives you some hate though, as you place a buff on an ally, so dont do it during a body pull on a raid <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Its a fairly large heal as well, mine will usually crit from 450-500+, thats a nasty reactive at a tanks disposal. <div></div>

Thanks for that guys - hadn't thought of it as the target of the reactive being the "caster" of the proc. I knew I wouldn't really have got to 70 with fundamental misconceptions about my class :smileytongue:

Yeah, i've also noticed that .. seems to work much like the wards from mystics .. or hots from druids .. if they precast it the mobs also often directly turn onto them.

<div></div>The only moment you get agro from blessing is when you can it, not when it procs, not when it is up.Meaning : if you cast it before pull, you are won't get any agro at all (you'll even stay out of fight), and you'll actually ease up the damage on tank while giving him initial agro, reducing the chances of a healer or debuffer getting agro at first. If you cast it during pull, you'll build up a little agro. Not much tho. If it's a body pull, mobs will go for you, but will easilly go back on tank. As soon as he gets agro and take a hit, your reactive will giving him even more agro, even on mobs who aren't in his taunt range. But can trouble the placemeent, and even get your killed, so it's to be avoided. It's unlikely casting blessing when tank has any amount of agro will pull agro to you.To sum it up : precasting blessing is good in most cases. Only case it's not good is body pulling for 2 reasons : can get you agro if you are late, and the proc can trigger the social agro if tank gets hit.<div></div><p>Message Edited by Hicarse on <span class=date_text>07-13-2006</span> <span class=time_text>12:03 PM</span>

Yes, this is incredibly useful. It is one of our class defining skills. It is a great heal, does good damage and is excellent for getting aggro over time.In raids I "ward" the MT before the pull to add additional aggro. I almost never ward him during the fight, though, for two reasons:* Paladin wards are much better, and ours will overwrite and remove theirs. Sadly, they do not stack.* Our reactive lifetap only triggers if they are actually damaged. So if a tank is critical in health and they were given an emergency ward by, say, a defiler, our lifetaps would never trigger to heal the tank. Only once all their wards are down and they start taking damage will the proc trigger.<div></div>
