Hi,Just restarted the game, trying out the PVP stuff and decided on a SK this time.I've just noticed that my Avoidance is red around 21-29% (depending on shield or no shield). Is this due to some of my armour being out of date (still wearing some L7 kit which is now grey).<div></div>

<P>if its red it probably means your in your offencive stance in all honesty.</P> <P>but wearing grey armour won't help, also under the skills window (press L), and the adventure tab, you want your defence and parry to be maxed for your level, so at 19 that should be about 97/97 or something. as they will also pull your avoidance down if they are low.</P>

<DIV>speaking of stances... has anyone ever measured the effectiveness of no stance at all? Each stance has it's negatives, so "no stance" should be a balanced mid-range stance.... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>or not. heck, I always use a stance, never really thought about not doing it before...</DIV>

<P>thought about it, but as we get no stat bonus from not using a stance its not ballanced really</P> <P> </P> <P>i do wish we had a mid stance like brawlers</P>

Yeah .. i see more onehander with shield as a kind of mid stance .. monks have spider-stance but on the other hand they can't use shield.

A wannabe Balanced stance for a shadowknight is a 1-hander / shield in Offensive, or a 2-hander in Defensive. With proper skill bonuses, you can easily overcome the debuff to weapon skill while in Offensive mode.

someone should run some tests. I may do that. not sure how I could measure anything other than time it takes to kill with no buffs and just change stances?<div></div>

<DIV>If you choose the WIS AA line then you can make up for the losses in weapon skills from defensive stance. But its difficult to make up all the int form offensive. Just depends on what your doing. Even on raids where I am strictly in a DPS role, I try to keep good tanking stats while still capping out my int, because ya never know where you're going to have to snap agro off a scout or cloth wearer. Just gotta be quick switching to defensive from offensive heh. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But ya, I've never rolled without one of the stances up, defensive stance is usually the first buff I throw back on after a death.</DIV>

Thats another change I'd like to see, I'd like to see our stances be a toggle so switching between the two could be 1 button press instead of two. Scenario: You're in DPS mode and see a nasty looking add comming, you drop into DEF stance and hit him with a taunt and auto-attack till the MT is ready to snag him.Scenario number 2 you're out grouping on some contested content and a ranger jumps your healer, you kill the mob, jump into offensive stance and smash his face in.I dislike having to hit your stance buttons twice after all it should really be a "buff" since its more of a body position etc. Just makes more sense to me TBH.<div></div>

<DIV>It doesn't help that I'm usually using a 2hander with no avoidance when I need to pick up an add... So you have to </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>rescue - that comes first</DIV> <DIV>switch stances</DIV> <DIV>change 2 pieces of gear</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thats 5 clicks, minimum, hoping that rescue was enough. It's better to just have a tank who is designated as the pickup guy, tell him not to be worried about DPS, and just stay in defensive with defensive gear ready to take care of problems like that. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>i think the value that the defence skill gives has a subcalculation to it based on armour type. so plate offering the least, cloth offering the most.</DIV>
