So how do the sk's on the pvp servers like it?My main regret in eq1 is when they did the server mergers I didn't try the zek server out.I've always been interested(and no im not a avid dueler) because i like the idea of having to be on your toes( I think it keeps ur skills sharp) and the idea of adding a different element to the game(particularly group pvp).I also been "tempted" to play it on eq2 for basically the same reasons. However like most people I'm awry of all the griefers and all of the b*tching that seems to be associated with the pvp forums... kinda discouraging when you trying to research stuff to get yourself primed to ditch ur toon on one server that you spent alot of time playing to start over on another. For the sk's out there on those servers any regrets?(and no i couldnt play anything other then sk......not for more then 20 min anyways). Is it worth it?

I play a SK in the Venekor server. Overall the server is really good. There is your occasional griefer and camper but it is not too extreme. Personally I love the SK. We get pretty good mitigation since we can wear heavy armor. We get aggros so we can get the target moved to us instead or our healers and cloth wearers. Get a good one-hand weapons and you are decent in close. Get you Int up and you are good ranged. Overall we can fit in good for just about any situation and in general I think the Qeynos hate since there is no clear cut on how to handle us. When we see other professions we know what their strength and weakness are. However with a SK it is not so clear because you never know how the stats are set up and how they are going to be played. Also the Harm Touch line is so nice to have. Yes it has a 15 minute timer but not using any power, instant cast, and ranged. This can be used to finish off that guy running away from you or if you are losing will scare off anyone with such a major hit so fast. The biggest downside is we are really slow and have no chance to catch someone or run away from someone, and we can't use a ranged weapon. If you could use a bow or any throwing weapon things would be better but probably over powered.

SKs are almost helpless when it comes to a running enemy. Alot of the SKs spells should be able to be cast while running with improved range. Doesn't matter, I like mine alot. Soloing in PvE is extremely flexible.

Hit Dreadnaught today on the Nagafen server. I think there are only 2 others at the present time so I am proud of myself......at least until I get ganked tomorrow and drop a title or two. I Love my SK. I really like the class and I love every aspect of what we respresent and what we can do. I will say though we are a support cast. My duo partner is a 56 Brig so he compliments me tremendously. I would probably only be a hunter if it was not for him. Since SK's are very poor at stopping runners we picked the Brig for him. The Brig is probably the best toon for stopping runners besides the mezzers. He has about 3-4 stuns and 2 knockdowns and I believe 2 snares. We compliment each other very well. He has a debuff disease spell he starts each fight with which allows my DPS to shoot through the roof. If they would allow us to cast on the run we would be the most used class in all of PVP.
DANG YOU RAMGLOBAL IM LIKE 3 KILLS AWAY FROM DREADNAUGHT!!! lol, anyways im a 45 sk champion on the nagaefen server with a kill streak of 68 right now, I think fubu and ramglobal pretty much summed it up. I am having a blast, and actually solo pvp as much as I group pvp, with a total of 1930 kill so far, and no I dont grief greens 24/7, in fact my funniest fights are with ppl who are white yellow, and even orange to me.

anyways, if you know how to play right you can stop runners (sometimes). the most obvious thing is to HT them, which is what I do to cowards who decide to get to half life then decide to run. but if you can get close to your target and load him up on ALL your dots, and when he begins to run, dont even chase him, use you nuke range spells (the anger line our you lifetap) to get his life to about 10% then let the dots do there work while you chase him without using sprint eventually you will catch up to a corspe.

even better if you are lvl 40, use your snare/nuke when your target gets to half life, he wont be able to run at full speed, and if your pet is already on him he is a goner.

even better then all three, get your target loaded on dots, then when he gets to a quarter of life and tries to run, go in offensive mode and just use your snare/nuke and watch him literally blow up, its the funniest thing to watch a target run off into the horizen and decinigrate when a lighting bolt comes out of nowhere! its the closest thing to a fatilty.

best thing about being an sk is that we can fight ANY class strategically (conjurers may be some exception) , and if you play your class right there are few situation you cant get out of, (at least going 1 on 1 with somebody)

also remember sk's reach there near full potentail at lvl 44, we have a pet, snare, HT, and evac at that lvl, and after that things just keep getting better, like our mana tap that will be great against healers and pallies, or our tap viens that can destory conjurere dumbfire pets, or keep you live agianst a whole gruop when pvp MTing, there are so many things I wont even name them all,

however, no matter what class you choose, you will, die, you will get griefed, and you will get ganked.

Do u guys find that the pvp action tends to bottleneck progression, particularly guild progression content wise?
Rylight

by bottleneck do you mean slow down? pvp is somewhat optional yet at the same time non-avoidable, I dont have a guild on this server simply because I like doing things my way. But from what I understand pvping actually increases not only your status but the status of the guild, so every kill actually helps your guild. other then the guilds getting distracted by having pvp days, I dont think pvp really affects guilds to much more then that. but Like I said im not in a guild, so im limited to helping you with this question.

oh and hey squiggy, I figured that was you after the checking the limited amount of dreadnaughts on the pvp leaderboard

actually im gonna be remaking my episode 1 movie within the next few days so im not sure how often I will be on.

Message Edited by Rylight on 05-16-2006 06:05 PM

Furies are an issue sometime. They can be Brutal because if you attack them first they can use health regen to get your power down before you do a lick of damage to them. We don't for the most part do enought Burst DPS to get them low enough so that we can drop HT on them. From what I have seen they would be the second hardest class in PVP for us. You do stand a chance against them just play in offensive mode and lay on the interupts / stuns / and DOT's. They are difficult though since if they don't want to enter combat you can just sit and beat on them using up all of your power. If that happens get your pet out immed!!!!!!!! It forces them into combat. Conjurers are your main problem period. They do freak damage and our taps and heals simply can not keep up. You will find that Melee classes are your best bet to beat. They simply can't keep up with our reactive heals!!!!!! Cheers.Squiggy

Im not on PVP but I know how to fight healers in duels. It's all about not triggering any reactive heals, I dont know if you can see their buffs like on PvE, but if you can, learn their reactive icon and just dont attack until its run out, that will give you an easy chance to burn through them before they can cast a direct heal. If you cant see their buffs just learn the cast graphic and go find the duration of the spell shouldnt be to hard, if you cant burn them down just sap them, you can outlast them power wise by taking hits better. This is coming from a 1v1 standpoint, if a healer has someone else with them, that sucks.

the thing is we hit for different amounts in pvp then in duels (unless they changed that in dueling, I havent been on the blue server since pvp so im not sure)

now Furies, its true that they can be a hazarderous since they do damage and heal themselves, in fact THIS IS THE ONLY HEALER I WOULD NOT GO DEFENSIVE WITH, however if you know how to fight them you can take them down.

like an above poster said, you must go offensive, this would also be a good time to cast your pet and your damage ward reactive, but after that (and maybe some dots) STUN STUN STUN!!! furies seem to have some pretty long cast times from what I under stand, if you do some direct damage, stun, then some more direct damage, while your dots are going off and your pet is wailing on them, you can get them to half life, and then debuff them with your decry of decay line and HT them

now im not an HT freak, but this is one of those time when HT is necassary! considering you can get a healer to 10% of his life and he can heal back to 100%, you only have a small window of oppurnunity, and when they get to about half life you must take it. but yes furies can be a threat, though I for one have had no problems with even con furies, admittingly though it seems I havent fought one 1 to1 since my 30's. but they can be killed easily if you know what you are doing

overall if you go berserk on them (yes I know we are not zerkers) but if you spam you direct damage after all your dots are on and stun like crazy you can kill them, even without HT, btw the sta line of AA's gives you a THIRD STUN! priceless, and its an aoe stun, which has saved me in group vs group situations.

in my opinon my the hardest fights for me are probably swashbucklers and conjurers, back in the 30's swashy's were not a big deal, but at 40 they suddenly become vicious, but the real problem is they can make you lose target like infinite times in a fight, and swashy that know how to use that to there advantage can kick sk butt, otherwise though if you can keep them on target you can rip through them like butter.

It is funny as I read this. The two biggest issues for me is furies and swashies. I absolutely hate swashies. Every single time I finally get the upper hand on one they make me lose target, then they run and evac. This has happened every single time. And for furies I have only fought orange cons one vs one and I jsut could not do any damage to them at all. However I did just get malefic touch last night. With my gear and everything it does about 3K max damage. So this should help me a little bit.
