Melee DPS - SKs do more of their damage via spells than melee dps. DPS is mediocre if you are only counting melee. Some AAs can improve this, as can gear, etc. However, I see no reason to divide them up.</P> <P>2. Spell DPS - can be very high. SK do respectable (for a fighter) damage due to their spells, lifetaps, etc, but with proper gear, spell upgrades and AAs, can actually begin to become a dps class themselves.</P> <P>3. Nukes. HT is not ranged, so I'm not sure what you classify as a nuke, but there are a number of abilities, ranged and otherwise, that a SK gets which inflict damage directly. HT is on a longish timer, so I wouldn't classify a SK as a nuke class ala Wizards, but they do get an additional DD spell via the INT AA line, if they choose.</P> <P>4. Many SKs I know like the off-tank role, some I know prefer to MT and get insulted if you suggest they are not suited for it. Others who post here on the forums are trying (and enjoying) a sort of 'battle mage' dps role. The nice thing about SKs is their versatility. If they happen to not be MT, they can contribute in other ways. </P>

So all in all a SK as my main would be a fairly good First character considering they are so Versatile and i can get a feel for different rolls and perhaps reroll a diff class later from the Experience i gained as a SK, or continue to play as a SK and start to focus on certain things such as Damage Gear or Tankin gear or maybe Spell gear and wat not?

Do note that as a tank class, you will probably be expected (at least regular pick-up or xp groups) to generally act as MT if you are the only tank around, and that will be your pre-eminent role, especially when exp levels and funds are lower. When you get into your 40s and are earning more AAs, have more cash and access to more variety in gear, you can start testing the dps role better.  You will note, from the start, that SKs do decent damage than most non-brawlers.</P> <P>If you really wish, you can try all four archetypes by rolling a scout, mage and priest and level them all to mid teens pretty easy, just to get a feel for the other roles, then compare against SK.</P> <P>Good luck!  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>

<P>Well...just my 2cp as it is all personal preference but...I wouldn't choose either a tank or a healer for a first class.  They are too darn important to the group.  It's a sharp learning curve to be one of those two types if you don't know the game at all.  I would learn to play (mechanics, style, etc) as a DPS or utility class first.  After you have gotten your feet wet (doesn't take too long) I would encourage you to then roll a toon from each of the remaining 3 lines (fighter, caster, healer, scout are the four types) to see what you really like the most.  If you are going to do nothing but solo...then I guess it doesn't matter and SK does that better than most classes atm.</P> <P>Like I said, just my 2cp worth.  Do what seems likely to be the most fun to you.     </P>

I agree, the balance could have been evened a bit. Rangers here are apparantly very good at range, and not so bad at melee -especially since the last major Live Update, when Ranged damage came down a bit, but melee damage was upped (which was good, because my ranger buddy was always complaining in dungeons, and now he's happier). If you like a pure dps class with nice ranged attacks, try them out a bit.</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My war and shaman are the ones i played, because they both had high armor and nice mele, i would compare my warrior to a bezerker and my shaman to a SK.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ccff00>Agree 100%. My 49 Undead Warrior was very reminiscent of my EQ2 Zerker. I had a duel wield Fury build, mostly because I hated the lack of rage generation in Arms. The Zerker, however, has much better control over aggro than I found in the Warrior, but the parallel is still very strong between the two.</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I loved the Versatile playstyle of my shaman and being able to have a good chance agaisnt most classes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So im going to start wit a Shadowknight as my first char considering i belive they can relate to a shaman somewhat and because i hear bezerkers are gettin cheated on dps recently.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ccff00>Nothing can truly relate to a Shaman in WoW :smileyhappy:, I mean, they are truly jack of all trades, master of several things (<img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />), but for versatility, I recommend the following classes: Shadowknight, Monk, Bruiser, Fury, Warden, Conjuror, Necromancer, Dirge and Troubador. All are different, but all have a number of tools at their disposal. Toss in Paladin too, if you wish, but you have to give up being cool to do it</FONT>  <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <P>Message Edited by Twixter14 on <SPAN class=date_text>04-28-2006</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>03:36 PM</SPAN><BR> <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE><BR><p>Message Edited by Wargod1968 on <span class=date_text>04-28-2006</span> <span class=time_text>05:46 PM</span>

<P>I am a 70 SK..it's all i have ever been and i play no alts. I love my SK...cant get away from him. Aside from the fact that our aggro sux compared to other tanks i think SK is the most fun of all the tank classes period. I think SK's dont make that good of a starter toon tho...well..i started with one tho. They do have quite a learning curve as far as how to maintian aggro if tanking and such. We are a proud and small group of toons all and all. Seems were pretty rare now as it goes. Which is good. Make us proud if you choose one. =)</P> <P> </P> <P>Talus</P> <P>AOD/Chrushthule</P>
