View Full Version : Offensive stance question
<div>I have a quick question about offensive stances.</div><div> </div><div>Why do they only buff int?</div><div> </div><div>I played a paladin prior to now, and originally their stances only buffed intelligence, but now do both str and int.</div><div> </div><div>Why not ours?</div><div> </div><div>Strength is more important to offense than intelligence due to increases in power and auto-attack damage. Why was one crusader class addressed and not the other? Do some of our offensive stances do this? I mainly just noticed that dark sword does not offer a str bonus.</div>

<div></div><div>True, our stance buffs only INT while the paladin's buffs both STR and INT, but it's deliberate because we get more INT in our stance PLUS we can use Siphon Strength to counter the lack of STR.</div><div> </div><div>While I agree that STR is important for power, as far as damage we have a considerable number of spells that rely far more upon INT so that is truly where our damage is in my opinion. Certainly more-so than our combat arts and auto-attack. We do need STR, but we can get it through other means outside of our offensive stance.</div>

<div></div>Courageous Wrath (the Pally stance) raises INT and STR by 56 each at master 1Dark Sword (the SK stance) raises INT by 84 at master 1Paladins rely more on STR for damage than SKs do due to their shortage in offensive spells. The power pool increase from STR would be nice, but what I would rather see would be Paladins getting 25% of their power pool from WIS, but SKs getting 25% from INT.As far as why our offensive stance exclusively boost int, take a look at your spell damage before you toggle your offensive stance, and then take a look afterwards <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> The level 60 Offensive sance at adept 3 increases INT by 196 and is equal to about a 15% increase in spell damage. Not too shabby, though it would be better if we got a power boost from it too.<div></div><p>Message Edited by Razerblaze on <span class="date_text">04-10-2006</span><span class="time_text">12:43 PM</span></p>

<div>So much of a SK's damage output is spell based, that until we hit cap 1 point of int has more marginal dps associated with it than a point of str.</div><div> </div><div>Now, it *would* be very nice to have a power stat increasing in offensive stance, but our offensive stance is already very good - and I wouldn't give up any of that int in order to get Str added to it.</div>
<div>Thanks for the responses. I hadn't realized that the int buff between the two classes was so different. I'd still rather have the compromising combo personally, but I can see why you guys like the int only boost. The first thing that made me think to look in the first place is how fast I seem to chew through power in solo and small group situations.</div>

<div></div>Its really quite simple. All of our REAL damage comes from spells which is governed by INT. Very little of it comes from autoattack and CA's.
