<div></div><div>Was wondering what race for shadowknights both for solo pve and solo/grp pvp. I know i know that this question gets asked alot on the forums but i usually just hear " Whatever you like". So, with that note i know it will mostly come down to that, but i still would like to know so i can add it in to the mix.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>-Kelethix</div><p>Message Edited by Kelethix on <span class="date_text">04-03-2006</span><span class="time_text">06:30 PM</span></p>

I know you don't want to hear this, but I do not know what else to tell you. Race seriously does not make a single bit of difference. At all. Choose anything. It does not matter a single bit. All races will be able to solo just as well, they'll all be able to group just as well, they'll be able to do PvP just as well, and they'll be able to do anything just as well. A shadowknight is a shadowknight is a shadowknight, regardless of race. If you are absolutely determined to find the race with specific stats, you can <a href="http://eq2.ogaming.com/data/846%7ERaces.php" target="_blank">check out this page</a>. But like I said, it does not make a single bit of difference and would be a waste of your time.<div></div>

<div></div>Race not mattering much is especially true for SKs - the fact is, all stats are useful to us, and in the endgame you'll often be capped. Because we're in a situation where all the stats matter, race choice is a matter of playstyle more than powergaming.

There is only two main factors when it comes to a SK and stats are not one of them.1.) If you are on a PvP server you need a race with Evil alignment2.) The bigger your race physically is the bigger your horse is. So if you want to ride around on a huge horse go with an Ogre.<div></div>

<div></div><p>Ok, you want to be a SK, you want to be a tank. Tanks like HP, the higher the better right? Although your gear and all will determine that in the end the one difference is, the OGRE race is the only race to get a racial bonus directly tied to HP's. I know every class gets that chance to increase your HP by 2 percent or whatever it is but coming from a lvl 70 SK if I could change i would go to OGRE.</p><p> </p><p>Alegion</p><p>70/SK/Nektulos</p>

<div>Ogres>Trolls</div><div> </div><div>If you can handle having a really slooooooow movement rate, being as dumb as a rock, but having the strength of a titan, then being an Ogre is for you. I've got strength up to 265 atm. Intelligence is close to nil, without having any stat reflective gear.</div><div> </div><div>You will need to sacrafice intelligence for strength, but those heavy hits add up in the end.</div>

<div></div><p>Considering that INT starts at 15, and you have a racial ability to add +5 to INT, you don't have to be any worse at INT than a human, as an Ogre.</p><p>5 points is trivial. Especially at mid to later levels.</p>

<div></div>True - the concensus is that it does matter at the beginning. More physical races have an easier time with fighter classes at the beginning, but as you go higher and higher in levels the differences start to become more and more marginal.

Can Barbarians be SKs? I don't see why they wouldn't, but you never know. I'd like to go with that over a Human.<div></div>

<div></div><div></div><p>You've been registered since nearly after launch. I'm surprised you are asking.</p><p>To clarify, however, in EQ2, it is ARAC (Any Race, Any Class).</p><p>You could, if you wished, be a Barbarian SK. Or a Halfling SK. Level 50 SK here <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />To the OP: I've played a halfling SK for a very long time, slowly progressing through levels(as I am sluggish when it comes to grinding..) and I'm now level 50, halfway to 51. I have allways been very satisfied beeing a halfling and have never felt anything negative 'stat wise'. What is more important, for me, is that I chose a race/class combination I liked and it works, so choose what looks best for you <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><font size="1">(Though.. I don't know why people keep posting that ogres or trolls are best. It does not matter. Really. You WILL NOT notice ANY difference between ANY race. And to whoever mentioned slow running speed in an ogre? All races run at the exact same speed. It just FEELS like you're moving slower because you're so much bigger.<div></div>

<div>Listen to axlin, he knows what he is talking about. The difference between the races is so minor there is really no need to pay attention to it. Play what looks cool to you. be orignal and make a race that most wouldnt use if you want. dont worry about race.</div>

<div></div><p>The original poster asked what race has the best starting stats for SK, and specifically asked people Not to give the answer "whatever you like."</p><p>The race with the Best starting stats for the class is Ogre, period. Strongest and most sturdy of all the races, with a decent starting Int that can be boosted with by another 5 by choosing the "lifted curse" racial option.</p><p>Another thing that makes Ogres better suited to any tank role, height. A tank needs to be able to see the mobs and adds, and being the tallest race makes it that much easier.</p><p>Those posting that it doesn't matter are ignoring the question posed by the OP.</p>

<div>I disagree. I think a troll has better starting stats then an ogre.</div><div> </div><div>But like most of these posts above, the best race for a SK totally depends on what you want your SK to do. If you want to be a "battle mage", and ogre is most definetely NOT the best race for those stats.</div>

<div>In the higher end of the game it's more about gear than race. An Ogre SK can be just as much of a Battlemage as a Dark Elf SK. My personal preference for the class is Dark Elf. Starting with some of the most well balanced stats for the class I see it as a good choice. High INT and WIS and a decent STA and STR score starting make it optiomal imo. Now for personal preference, it's still Dark Elf for RP purposes, but that's a different story.</div><div> </div><div>Naldir Veglarn</div><div>68 Seasoned SK for the New Outriders of Mistmoore</div>
