I have definitely had more problems holding aggro myself. Still trying to adjust to new playing style, but using everything I have to try and build aggro it just seems like its not enough. Post patch I could hold it just fine unless someone got a little to ambitious with nukes, but now it seems far to easy to lose and timers taunts to long to get back into control quickly. Still I get better every day but this issue is one that worries me.

I've also noticed it's harder to hold agro. I used to switch to 2h to avoid losing it, but now that's even worse than 1h agro. However, if I am grouped with a coercer or assassin and they use their agro buff, I dont have any issues. I did a /feedback the other night suggesting to give us our eq1 voice line of spells. This could use the 5th conc spot and also give another group/raid utility on top of helping our agro while MT.

I have to agree when things are running smoothly and they are hitting me, my ds seems to generate enough aggro the loss of constant buffing (hunger/toughness/etc) isnt that big a deal, but when I lose control of aggro rescue/ht dont seem to be quite enough to grab back hate and then just cycle taunts as they become available (Master 1 Insidious, Adept 3 blashphemy/Cursed Caress/that master 2 ward (god I love that thing) still need to upgrade vitae and ruineous to finish my tier 5 spell upgrades, (also got the level 53 master spell something smite, looks cool but 30 second recast).

I just advise my groups that it takes me 15-20 seconds to get a good lock on aggro and plz dont cast on incoming works 99% of the time.. but that 1% is just godawful

I have been fine on agro sometimes. Fighting yellows my taunts do get resisted therefor agro can be harder. But isn't yellows supposed to be a challenge? wheres the challenge if i don't have to try to hold agro. but greens up till evens i have no problems. Also note blasphemy is at master and insidious is at adept3.

my agro control is very good now. My taunts dont get resisted very often. you need to do more tha just taunt to keep agro. If your fighting more than 1 mob a the same time, use both of the aoes you have. Make sure your using both your stuns, a shield is a neccesity to tanking as the stun is killer, plus the hate-over-time. Your ward usage is also essential, not only for self preservation, but it gives agro on casting and damageing and healing.

I have alot of my skills macroed for fast casting. Shield bash->Enconter taunt, Fighting Chance->Pariahs mark, Wicked Coil->sickening anger. This helps free the hotbar for things you need.

There are also Ebil things mages can do to give YOU agro rather than them. Wizards Frost shield 3x damage shiled transferes the agro to you, not them. Ilusionists have the same kind of buff, only its mental damage. those two i know about, ive yet to discover what the rest of the mages can give you

Dirges and assassins i know have buffs that increase one person in thier groups hate generation, making it easier to hold agro.

Finally, you getting hit = great agro. A sk should have no problem holding agro against multiple foes, givin that everyone is assisting, which they should be, and people other than you dont hyper AOE their bigges aoe at the very beginning of the fight. ther than those two things, ive been rocking!

With all my taunts and most all my skills master I simply cannont hold aggro off a bruiser. Maybe its because he was doing 300-600dps every fight when I was parsing I dont know....

I have no trouble with adept 3s and master spells. This is holding off dps from conjurers necros warlocks ect. If anything seems like its much easier to get it and keep it.

I personally like the dots for taunts. I can shield bash a add and move to the next one to single taunt it. Then I group taunt and have the 3rd one with dps and maybe a harm touch if they really pour on the dps.

Very happy with the combat changes.

Try fighting with a bruiser in your group and no agro buff. Even if they dont use any power I lose agro on most encounters to their natural dps. This is with using both taunts + bash (adept 3), reactive heal (master 2), and doing dps/taps (adept 3). If the assassin doesn't put his agro buff on me I lose agro to him as well. Even with it, the assassin can't use many skills or he pulls agro. If classes are unable to function fully because of pulling agro almost every time, then there is a problem.

This has nothing to do with not liking the combat changes. I love them. I just think there either needs to be adjustment on agro generated by dps or tank classes need an increase (guardian in group was also losing agro constantly). Personally, I think an agro buff like our eq1 voice line would be a nice addition to help the problem.

I am also convinced there is some flaw with the aggro mechanics. Something is a lil off. Most the time, for most groups it's just fine. I think it has to do with certian skills by certain classes are just generating too much. One class that is notorious i've seen have been swashies. Testing it even telling them to step it down to the point where they are doing 2/3 my dmg, and i'm laying taunts on thick they are still stealing aggro with no remorse. The other side of the scale (which is easier to see) are wizzies. IC seems to be the aggro stealing spell. Don't get me wrong, it's a huge nuke rightly so gotta love the eye candy numbers Ok here is how it seems to be. Wizzie is only casting one spell this fight, remember, for testing purposes Pull with DW On inc load HO, dot, finish HO with IS in camp bash, Draw str, IS again lifetaps blah blah whatever buttons you have to push IS again, bash again Ok mob is 50% hps now and you are hovering around 8k dmg It goes two ways here 1. Wizzie starts to IC Lands on mob for 2500ish dmg Mob continues to hit me 2. Wizzies starts to IC Lands on mob for 4700ish dmg Mob turns on wizzie after just one spell. It's just funky like that and I can't reason it out. Here i'm sitting at almost double the actual dmg that max IC.. with 5 tuants landed plus basically everything else I got to offer.. and one spell steals it. Then you have other fights with multiple encounters inc.. warlocks, bards, and mages oh my!! and I swear I never taunt once and they are glued on my [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] till death. I swear one group I was pulling every time locking out maximum encounter limit each pull and not loosing aggro on anything. Really made me wanna set up oldschool EQ AE group again

The only real problem I have is fighting orange con mobs with a bruiser. Other than that Aggro is cake, and I tell you my spell levels arent the best (to embarassed to say *grins*) Try using different tactic's, i'd say mine, but im greedy about being the best lol. And its honestly just a lot to type, im a lazy tank

-Guyris 51 sk

AB Server!

It has very little to do with tactics. I assure you that most level 50+ SKs know how to hold agro pretty well. The agro loss is situational. I duo with a bruiser almost every day. Her spells are only adept 1 (except one spell) and mine are all adept 3 or better. She pulls agro using certain abilities, such as ones with knockback. This even occurs on blue con mobs.

If she doesn't use these abilities, I dont lose agro. If I have an agro buff, I can do half the agro generation and never lose it. It sounds like you have a group setup where you dont run into this situation. I also have had many groups were I did not have issues. However, there are cases where a tank will have great difficulty holding agro on every pull. We should investigate the cause instead of just assuming everything is ok since a few people have not had a problem yet.

Also, if you really think it's your tactics then you should explain what you do to hold agro. I am going to bet it's the same thing most SKs do as well, but at least we can rule it out.

Anyone grouped with a warlock and their new AOE specailist role? Any problems holding aggro?

I'm only level 45, but I have managed to hold aggro against ^^^ Orange mobs pretty well. What I'm running into is team members buffing/debuffing during pulls before the mob gets into range for aggro.

If they can restrain themselves a few seconds then its just taunt, slam and kick the whole way with pretty good success (throwing in a couple AOE spells like doom judgement for groups if no mezzer). I think for singles or small group of 2-4 we're ok, after that we're still limited, especially if an add shows up.

I am also finding that if I'm an ST I'm getting more action now when an add shows up, which I think is a big improvement than just button mashing.

All my spells are Adept 1, and I've been able to ocassionally taunt off other tanks like a 47 Bruiser that was MT for my group the other night. I keep telling my teams about our hate boosting shield, but if the mobs aren't hitting me, it ain't working.
