At first look I did not like these changes either. But after playing around with them on beta , I really enjoyed them. Now it is not a matter of using defensive/offensive and every other buff possible, but we must change our buffs and adapt based on the situation. I found that unholy str was useless to use unless the extra HPs where needed because of an AE, or when tanking caster mobs. And the rate that cursed caress procs essenses is very nice also, it does not proc an essense on every hit, I would guess about a 10% chance to proc (the DS and taunt do proc on each hit though). Here are some examples of how I used the buffs on beta that I posted on another thread, I will cut and paste here.

As far as stances go:

I used a few different set ups.

Tanking groups of multiple mobs and mobs that mainly melee : Malevolent Circle, Cursed Caress, unholy aura

Tanking Mobs that cast a lot : Malevolent Circle, Unholy aura, and either insatiable hunger or unholy strength (depending on size of nukes)

DPSing : Plague sword, unholy aura, insatiable hunger.

Would also swap around insatiable hunger with unholy str if the mob used AE's or if there wasnt many melee in the group.

There are a lot of different combos we can use depending on the situation, if you are not getting hit much with melee you wont want cursed caress up . If you pull a group of 10 mobs you will definately want cursed caress up. I found myself changing buffs between fights depending on what the next pull looked like. Basically there wont be a best Tanking setup or a DPS setup, it will be more situational. And unless you're taking a lot of spell damage unholy strength seems worse to me then some of the other choices. Just having more HPs wont make a better tank, especially when that buff slot can add some to your utility instead,

Dogmae hit it right on the head from what i've experienced to

If actually get down to the numbers though the buffs don't matter as much outside of defensive stance. From a DPS point of view they all are nice. A single ^^^ with caress up will give you more hate, essence (even though this is by far np), and do like 500-600 in DS. Say you replace it with unholy str, it has to proc 3 or so times and it does the same dmg but heals you. You see where this is going, it's all very situational and how you feel what should be up.

I personaly like Aura up whenever I tank in a group because every extra bit of hps helps. Solo it's a tossup on what i'm fighting, solo mobs i'll throw up str and aura, str and carress, str and hunger, haha it's all based on what you will be fighting and who you are with.

I'm on beta and i love the new variety we have and situational buffs. On live you always use the same buffs, that gets boring. These con slot changes are gonna be bad for SKs out there who don't know thier class well and i expect some of the "oh this class gets a horsie" SKs to quit, which i like.

/agreed Playing on beta I can certainly appreciate the new changes they have put forth. The mix up of wards is nice. The variety is fun to play around with.
