You should keep in mind that you are only lvl 22. In my experience, at early lvl's, things were much harder for me. Not until i had a few lvls under my belt, ie; actually having all my CA's and spells that were individualized to shadowknight, and not just crusader skills, did i really start to have fun and imo make an improvement. I am currently lvl 47,.and working towards 50, and i can honestly say that i love my character, whether it be soloing ( which i believe is a strong point) or grouping as MT or assist, either or. But honestly, with the combat upgrade looming in the near future, its really up in the air how its going. There are quite a few posts about the near future incarnation of our beloved Dark Knight's, my suggestion is to read all that you can about what we can and cant do, and what we will be all about after the update, and also, try to get a few more lvls, Maybe you will change your mind. In the long run, you should be the one to know if you want to be something or not, and not care what others say one way or the other. Hope to see you around in the future.
I would hold off for the time being, for a couple of reasons:

1. Combat revamp is near, and who knows how badly what class is gonna be borked beyond recognition

2. Your level 22, I didnt truly start loving my SK until I hit 40 and got into ebon armor, then it rocked.

For me it was hard between 20 and like 33, those levels your switching from crusader to SK. You get much better from around that point on.

I'll add to the wisdom of previous posters, choose better targets.

When I've soloed I've done very well against casters and weak groups. Good example was Feerrott, spent many happy levels tanking down groups of 3-4 yellow v. Kill the healers and put the rest to the sword.

I'm a 22nd SK in imbued player-crafted carbonite vanguard (made by a guildie, so it was very cheap). I have 2 rare T3 hex dolls that I harvested the raws for myself, and an imbued steel executioner axe that I also harvested the raw for. Spells are primarily adept 1s since they are relatively cheap on Lucan if you should frequently and on both sides. I do have an Adept 3 of Demonstration of Faith that I harvested the raw for.

I've been taking down single 25th normal mobs routinely, as well as single 20th 1^ heroics and grouped 18-19th 2^heroics. With the 25th normals and the 20th 1^s I need to ward myself twice per battle and I'm down to 1/5th power by the end. The 18th-19th 2^ mobs rarely even hit me and I don't even need to ward, so most times I just stick to auto-attack with the occasional HO to speed things up. I have also taken down 20th heroic (those that show no ^ but are heroic because of the number of mobs) groups with 4 mobs and can do it safely but I will be OOP and at 1/5th health by the end.

Overall, I have to say that I'm very happy with how I am able to solo.

As stated by Oderus, you need to make the decision yourself as to whether or not you want to continue playing a certain subclass. I mean, nothing we say here should sway or disway your opinion of the subclass you chose. I would agree with the posters here that the terrible 20s (as I like to call them) are tougher than the 30s and 40s. I enjoyed the challenge of growing up with my SK, the good along with the bad. The way I see it, if you don't go through all of the hardships early on, you won't appreciate how fun the subclass becomes at later levels. Anyways, good luck with your decision making and have fun playing whatever subclass you choose.

The class is going to undergo some dramatic changes, so you should probably do two things:

1. Level up. You're two levels into your Shadowknight. You simply don't have enough experience with the class to warrant deleting your character after two levels of being a Shadowknight.

2. Wait for the expansion to come out and see what the class is like after the combat revamp has been implemented.

And as for not being able to use your skills more than once per fight . . . um, what, exactly, are you talking about? Did you think Harm Touch was the only spell a Shadowknight used during combat? Tell me, specifically, which other spells you can't re-use during a battle? You must be killing mobs in three seconds, from start to finish.

Message Edited by vwlssknght on 08-10-2005 07:18 AM

As numerous people have stated, wait till combat changes before you do anything. Also I found my SK became much easier to play once you hit 26, the pet helps a lot (graphics suck though). Once you get to 35 it becomes even better from my memory. Of course, with every thing being changed who knows.

Blackoath
