<DIV> <DIV>Greetings, </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I wanted to enter some feedback about the Paladin's Holy- and Shadowknight's Unholy mount.  I would think that these mounts which are supposed to be special and mystical in nature should have a look that sets them apart from normal horses.  In addition, these mount are only equal to J-boots (Journeyman's Boots), +10% increase in speed.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I would like to suggest that these mounts get better as the Crusader (Paladin/Shadowknight) gains levels. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The look of the mount would change slightly every 10 levels.  For instance, the unholy mount could start with horns or barding at 20th level, then gaining glowing firey-red eyes at 30th, flaming hooves at 40th, et cetera.  For the paladin's horse, it could shed light as a torch at 20th, and the light's intensity would increase every 10 levels.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In addition, the mount could gain an addition +5% to its speed every 10 levels (10% at 20th, 15% at 30th, 20% at 40th, et cetera) to a maximum of +25% at 50th level.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>With these changes, maybe you would see more paladins and shadowknights riding their respected mounts instead of them using a Spirit Totem of the Wolf that grants near unlimited SoW (Spirit of the Wolf) which is +24% speed increase and costs an average of 75 silver on a broker.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Terdrayke Frosthammer - Barbarian Paladin/Antonia Bayle</DIV> <DIV>Sanguinary E'Velahr - Erudite Shadowknight/Antonia Bayle</DIV> <DIV> </DIV></DIV>

<DIV>On top of that, you could make the Kata's from monks and bruisers look 5% cooler every 10 levels too...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Its a fun spell, get over it... as a SK myself, I dont mind the fact that I have a pure black horse that runs slow, its meant for show anyways.  If I want a real horse I will pay for a real horse.</DIV>

Cool idea's,but will never happen. I still dont understand what peoples problem was with us getting this horse,..actually i do, compared to their fluffs it was far superior and unfair. But,what i really dont understand is that people would rather take it away from crusader's, instead of trying to get a similar fluff spell that would have an added bonus no other class gets for free?!     ah well, i think (hope) that one day we will be able to buy a fast horse, like everyone else, and then summon our unholy pony on top of it for just the unholy graphic, but doubt that as well. <div></div>

I know exactly what everyone's problem with it is. Like me, they are  old EQ1 players who <DIV>raced to the max level as fast and hard as they could for one thing, to AA purchase the Unholy Steed. In EQ1 it resembled a veteran SK. One who also could not be caught by any MOB outside of summoning ones. In fact it actually helped to a degree that I could kite solo things that normally would catch up and rip me a new one in for instance HoH. I'm pretty certain that 95% of the player gripes from Holy/Unholy Steed are old EQ1 players who got offended the instant they used the title of "Unholy Steed" on something they worked hard for on their old EQ1 character lives to get.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Did I get offended by it? Yes, in a way. Am I over it now after reading most of the official responses yes. I understand why it's in there, why it will not be improved on anytime in the near future if at all. I do believe that it will probly see some kind of return as the game gets more seasoned, but I think that to be far from now (years). If they introduce a type of alternate experience again, or another method of extra abilities within the next few expansions, I think this will be looked at due to the overwhelming responses to this.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Until and if that day comes though, I honestly believe we should be grateful that they dont intend to null the speed completely. If you have read the official response, then you'd know we actually came out on top with the +10% increase in run speed for actually nothing, in the form of a fun spell no less. I have not used any of the totems yet due to duoing with my Defiler wife a lot( Free SoW) but I think they have charges. Anything else that gives run speed for free pretty much has to be quested for.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And as previously stated, I use my horse even when I have SoW. I think it's part of the image that I wouldn't want ever want to give up, and overall, I'm glad that they brought it back to remind me at least of the SK heritage. Like it or not, we're no where near the potency and versatility of the EQ1 SK but then again, this is not EQ1 nor did it ever claim to be. I rather like my new role and am happy I can actually tank a mob by myself that's equal to or stronger than me and come out on top without running them in circles for hours...to me that was a fair trade.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just my 2cp</DIV> <DIV>-Kazander</DIV>

<DIV>No, it doesnt stack with allmost nothing... but still, it is as good the Jboots as everyone else gets as level 42, so come on.. it sucks, yeah, its better than an other fluff, yeah <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<font size="3"><font face="Arial">I was curious as to the defensive abilities when mounted. Soon as I dinged 20 of my Frog SK, it seemed like The mobs were beating up on me alot more. What I mean to ask is, does being on a mount affect your abilitys to parry, dodge, avoid, ect? Aside from that, I almost always group up with my RL friend whos a frog Fury, so I always have sow, but i do stay on my horse as much as I can. **Stupid Indoor zones and thair not allowing mounts** </font></font><div></div>

<P>Yeah, Lvl 20 is only a fun spell. When we got lvl 20 "fun" spell to be best one in game just like paladins. Other classes screamed to nerf it and it succeeded.. Your idea will only make our level 20 fun spell more attractive than any other classes once again only to invite public outcry all over again.</P> <P>All we can hope is to have upgraded horse post lvl 50 to replace our lvl 20 fun spell. That would be a best bet and please don't make post lvl 50+ horse to belong to "fun" spell. Make it a REAL horse so people wouldn't complain about it..</P>

<P>I have not read the "official reply" to the steed issue, which forum is it listed in?.</P> <P>I can understand that we should be grateful for the +10% speed, but at least make the Unholy Mount LOOK different from the other horses in game.</P> <P>And you are half correct.  I did save all my AA's to get my horse first but I didnt power-grind to get it.   ><img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P><here's your 1cp change></P> <P> </P> <P> </P>

<P>Here's the response:</P> <P>Here's the <B>official</B> <B>response</B> by Moorgard<BR>----------------------------------------------<BR><BR>We explained up front that these spells were meant for nothing more than flavor and fun. Since fun is an entirely subjective term, it's difficult to please everyone.<BR><BR>It was not intended that the <B>horse</B> spell that paladins and shadowknights receive would have a speed buff, but due to an error on our part it does. It's a slight speed increase compared to other mounts, but it exists nonetheless. Our options at this point are:<BR><BR>* Nerf the speed buff on the flavor <B>horses</B> so they provide no actual benefit.<BR>* Spend development time trying to think up marginally useful spells for all subclasses. Then come up with another round of these abilities when people complain that a different class has one that is somewhat more useful than their own.<BR>* Do nothing.<BR><BR>We have chosen the third option at this time. The effect of the <B>horses</B> is not such that it gives knights a game-imbalancing advantage, and we see no benefit in taking a minor perk away from a couple classes just to satisfy someone else.<BR><BR>So yes, knights get a flavor spell that is actually useful, and other subclasses don't. The flavor spells are a relatively minor element of gameplay, and we don't plan to modify them at this time.<BR><BR>===========================<BR>Moorgard<BR>EverQuest II Community Guy</P> <P> </P> <P> Bah keep the copper, save it to buy a new horse =P</P>

<DIV>Once all the bugs from the initial release are worked out (/crosses fingers) I think it would be extrememly cool if there were quests added to alter the horse, even if it's only cosmetic. Want a horse with flaming eyes and hooves (and that gives a small fire proc)? Do quest X for NPC X and have that option (and it shouldn't be an easy quest IMO).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The problem is that then you would have to add quests like this for the other classes and some of those would be hard to come up with. Look at the Enchanter line, for example. How do you improve on those group illusions? Of even worse, the giant beaver illusion (yes, a bloody giant beaver) that my Mystic gets. I'm at a loss as to what sort of quest upgrade that could have.</DIV>

<P>I've said this from the beginning. Classes need aesthetic distinction. While I know there are far better things to complain about, let's face it, aesthetics are important and add to gameplay and overall ambience.</P> <P>One thing that I sorely miss from my days playing a SK in EQL (before armour dye) was that each class had a unique set of armour, not to mention weapons, available only to them. There was something to be said about wearing full Blood Ember, or wielding a Petrified Heartwood Flamberge (okay, so Paladins could wield it, too). It's rather disheartening that there is absolutely NO class-specific gear, making for a world full of carbon copies.</P> <P>With that said, I really do hope they implement Heritage Quests for Kunark armour sets, one day, as well as epic weapons. I miss class destinction. Please bring it back.</P> <P>I'll get off of the pulpit now. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P><p>Message Edited by vwlssknght on <span class=date_text>06-23-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:39 PM</span>

While enganged in combat, your horse also doesn't grant you any added speed (summoned or not).</P>

<DIV>As someone who never played EQ1, and whose first EQ2 char is an SK, I was ecstatic to get a nearly free horse. That 10% may not be much after you've had a T2 horse, but till I could afford one (just 2 days ago in fact) I was thankful for having that teeny extra.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, we're the ONLY class (with Pally) who's entertainment spell does something other than entertain, so please don't complain.... or we'll get hit with the nerfing stick.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My only complaint is that the Unholy steed is the best looking horse in the game and the slowest. T2 horses are the ugliest but I wanted the speed, ended up with the Misty Parade horse. Someday I'll get one of the ghost steeds.</DIV>
