Graven Embrace isn't really a "Feign Death" like in the original EQ, although you can use it on yourself to get out of a sticky situation. What it is for in this game is a form of aggro control. When you are tanking and an over zealous Scout or Mage pulls aggro from you, FD them and the Mob will usually turn back to you. The more upgraded it is the more likely it is to work. I have read posts that claim that at higher levels it doesn't work but it does for me, once even on a raid Mob.

The big problem with it is that it removes all the buffs from the character you use it on and that can cause big problems if you do it to your groups only healer. So use it wisely in groups when engaged in combat, and for fun "kill" a wisearse group member when not in combat or a Mage pet always good for a laugh. I think of it as a Fun Spell with Benefits LOL

I have used graven embrace to save an entire raid before you could revive in instances. when your last or low on aggro list and the named comes for you, GE in a corner. it will reset the mob, you can use your rez stoens to get 2 clerics up, and boom recovery inc.

How ever, if an AE nails you while your down? hehe you stay down much longer then the spell duration.

I think the point also is that it clears instantly unlike the old FD your used to where the MOB walks away slowly and you have to FD again real quick if he sees you heh. When an encounter is broken, it's broken unless you happen to be lying on the MOB spawn spot. Since your gonna be ok when you get up it really doesn't need to be any longer.

Yeah this spell is kinda nice. Just like people above said as long as you are last on the aggro list it will reset the mob. Just make sure you use it away from the spawn spot of the mob and you will be golden. 10 sec is more than enough time for the mob to roam back to home before you stand up. I've used it on darathar before, so it most certianly works on higher lvl mobs.. it just wont clear your aggro though if you are not the last person on the list.

In a group situation this spell in my opinion has very little uses. If it comes to a situation where you think you should, it's best not to. It still clears all buffs on successful GE of the person you cast on. So casting on a healer isn't good at all unless you know for some reason it's the only hope. Just remember who you cast it on, it still has a 1 in 4 chance of failing.. and any dmg they take is unmitigated.

Well crap, I didn't even know about the unmitigated damage part.

I thought this was our "entertainment" spell. FD'ing group members while they are running and watching them trip and go face first into the sand. Is someone annoying you and jumping around a lot? You can put a stop to it.

Note: do not do this to coercers or you will find yourself continually dancing like a buffoon.

My problem isnt with the spell working (I find it works quite well , dont know about the upper lvls though) or even the duration really , although I wouldnt mind it being at least a couple mins in duration . The recast time is what bothers me , this spell could be a great utility spell but the recast timer pretty much makes it an afterthought . I dont see how it would be unbalancing to reduce the timer signifcantly , if anythig it would help SK's tank better , letting us get agro back off nuke happy mages ETC (I have used the spell for doing this , although I useualy let them take a beat down first as a not so gentle reminder to control the nukes

Anyway I guess this is just a small thing compared to other issues SK's have (harm touch and Life taps sucking so bad)

Question on this spell: I have it at apr4 lvl. I am currently lvl 22 as my SK and when I examine it, it says 75% chance to work on targets lvl 19 and below, 0% chance to work on targets over 19. (currently soloing lvl 24s, so that's not much help in the "oh no, an add!" department..) But here's the kicker: I tried the spell on a blue-con lvl 20 snake and it worked! Obviously the information given on exam is not totaly accurate. Is this a base lvl and some stat I have is modifying it? Could someone please explain? thx!

I usually don't attempt to use GE on 50+ mobs. For me it's pretty much a fun spell, killing times while gathering for raids. Got a necro in your group that likes to do group skelly form and wont stop jumping? BAM! Jumpers are always fun to get with this. Also fun when you see Mystics running around in giant beaver form. Just don't get a templar or you might find yourself sitting in your home town. Happened to me several times.

Wow lol it does work... I was in meeting of the minds and we had a bad pull, MT went down, when the aggro shifted to me feign death made em reset! I honestly never knew this spell worked on mobs higher than 44 like the description says, which is why i never try it. very cool.

i ask the cleric to odyssey that annoying jumper home. one actually did it, and the jumper was not too pleased but he learned his lesson.

I've actually had problems with it since around 32ish, mobs see through it a lot more now (like most of the time), and I've also had issues where it seems to work, mob wonders off, timer ends I stand up and go shessh made it, and the same mob(s) come running back and beat the crud out of me. Anyone else have this happen or am I just having a run of bad luck.

V/R

Blackoath 37th Troll Shadow Knight

at 45 I have managed to fd yellow cons. I have it as adept III. Actually I was surprised. to be honest from what I remember it has failed only once or twice from all the times I remember using it lately. When I first got it I thought it was really useless.because it was failing like 90% of the time. and back then mobs did not lose aggro when running back. they were waiting for you to get up and kill you. and the fd time was like a couple of secs :p
