Curious. I'm trying to figure out what the best route to go with Shadowknight post level 30. Where would a tier 3 or tier 4 rare be best used for a shadowknight? Spells? Equipment? Sell and buy something else? <div></div><p>Message Edited by Vak Mallek on <span class=date_text>04-15-2005</span> <span class=time_text>04:40 PM</span>

I just dinged 40 so I'll share what I did from 30-40. First order of business should be getting some feysteel and glimmering extracts, you'll need only 3 maybe 4 pieces total. Make an imbued Long Sword, Imbued BP, Imbued Legs and if you got left overs get the arms too. Next up, find a piece of Oak and get an Imbued oak kite shield. Once done you're gonna be one proc'n mofo and ready to tank away. So, now that you are a dps machine you'll need some spell upgrades. Start with Disease Cloud, and next up get Shriek of Terror, and if you still have money to burn upgrade some DPS attacks but out taunts should be your primary goal. <div></div>

Unless they changed it recently, going from app1 to master 1 on Disease Cloud is a whole bonus of about 60 points of hate. NOT worth the rare or the coin. Get to adept 1 on it and your good enough. An extra 10 points of hate or so on it is really nothing. Just do some research, some spells upgrade very nicely, others like Disease Cloud are not worth spending much coin on. <div></div>

<DIV>If you ask me, none. I figured it was pointless to waste rares on adept 3's on spells that I wouldn't be using at level 50. I got adept 1 on all of my spells and that was all I needed. When I got to level 50 the only spell i wanted to get adept 3 or master on was Despoiling Mist.. so i got adept 3 for it. After all when you are level 50, all you will do is raid.. so why not hold off on burning rares and get your best raid spell maxxed. Other than Despoiling Mist I am not concerned with any other spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Maybe it's just me. Levels 30-40 I was more concerned with saving gold to purchase armor than upgrading spells that would be out of use by the time i was level 50. </DIV>

I didn't know that. Thank you for the help. I've been gearing up for spending big money on the Disease Cloud upgrade. Thanks for clearing that up. What about Infernal Pact? Is that a decent upgrade. I haven't been able to find anything over App 1 on the Crushbone server. <div></div>

I only use Infernal Pact to get agro. By the mid 30's most mobs you'll be fighting will take it off you in 1 hit so it's not worth the power to keep it up. You're better off using the power spent on keeping our wards up on dps. As to the issue of Adept III for Disease Cloud, it not only increases the Hate but it also increase the damage per tick. At 40 my Adept III DC ticks at 34 which is about 70 pts of damage more then Adept 1. Sure when you look at these spells at face value it doesn't look like much, but how many times do you cast Disease Cloud in an encounter? 4, 5 sometimes 10? All the extra hate and damage adds up. Unless you plan on being power leveled from 30-40 you'll need upgrades. All of my upgrades were not baught either. My guild hits up Coldtooth, Exiled, Emperor Fyst, Aegledeas (sp? the spider in Nek Forest) every week, and they all drop T4 rares. I also kill Varsoon about 3 times a week, and Everling and the sisters get a whooping on about 2-3 times a week too which has netted a few rares for me. Between raids, master chests off named mobs, and a few I've harvested all of the Feysteel, Oak, extracts and Woad ink was not paid for. I'm going into 40 with 2pp and ready to hit the ebon market soon. <div></div>

Bael, that is frickin' awesome, dude. It sounds like the way to make money is kill every single named and epic encounter that you come across....and seek them out as often as possible. I'm not powerleveling, just trying to get up to 40 at a good pace and still have an opportunity to see plenty of content. Yeah, I use disease cloud 'a lot' in a fight. All the extra ticks sure do a lot more damage. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

Ya it took me over a month to get from 30-40, and it felt like even then it was too fast. There is still a huge amount of content I simply did not have the time to do and now it's greyed out. Some people get fixated on getting to 50 and everything before that isn't worth it, and well that game play does have it merits I just like to enjoy the journey. Something to considerv about Feysteel: Feysteel Vanguard won't be replaced by Fulginate Vanguard armor till about 44 or 45 when Fulginate mitigation finally inches past it. So investing in Feysteel at 30 will give you 4-5 levels into the 40's to get some Ebon replacements without suffering from having blue/green armor. G'luck getting the raids together. With a good group you can farm Nektropos Castle in about an hour, and net 2-4 master chests <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Although no SK masters have dropped for me yet, my Wife's defiler has 2. Varsoon can be killed in about 15 minutes, and getting Chamber of Immortality access is simple. Best bets is forming up a perma group with intention of hitting these targets every day. Between Heritage Quests, and farming these guys I didn't do any "xp grinding" at all. <div></div>

<DIV>Infernal Pact wouldn't be a bad spell to use a rare for. Being level 50 and far from rich, I have more at the top of my priority list, like an ebon for imbued legs, figwart roots for dolls, at the top of my priority list of spells are Cursed Sacrament adept 3, Dreadful Wrath adept 3, Sickening Anger adept 3, and then probably Infernal Pact adept 3. But those will only happen if i get filthy rich sometime before they raise the level cap <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

Bael: Excellent. We've got quite a few people in our guild that are plenty enough level to get on those quests. We've also been doing the ToN quests for the Bloodline Chronicles and have been getting really good drops, xp, etc. Mega: Awesome info. I'm definitely keeping tabs on 'things most needed', while still being able to keep some money as I level up. Thanks again for all the advice. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

Im a Guardian so i cant speak about using rares for your spell upgrades BUT i can say that i highly recommend getting as many pieces of Rare crafted armor you can...I went the Feysteel route in my 30s and even now at 42 its better than the common Fulginate. Its given me a little breathing room as i hit T5 and slowly get those Ebons =P Ive replaced some items with drops that were better than Feysteel...but i really dont think ill ever have/use a piece of Fulginate. Depending on how lucky i get with Ebon i might have to get a piece or 2 of Fulginate to hold me over but that wont be until level 43-44 where Fulginate AC starts to edge out the Feysteel. <div></div>
