View Full Version : Lifetap Proc possibly broken?

It might just be me, but it seems that the lifetap proc that is supposed to be part of Infernal Pact and Grafe's Malevolent Anguish is not working. I tested it multiple times today and never once did the effect proc. I know it does not proc all that often, but it never proc'd even once. Has anyone else happened to notice this? I know it was broken for a while and then it was fixed. It looks like it might have been broken again.

I think the chance is just really really small, and if you are using your rune in the proper places it doesn't last more than a few seconds anyways.

If I am correct the infernal pact spell cast various soul which sometimes procs a healing spell. I have used this before and it actually helps ALOT in solo incounters.

if I am correct it sometimes will give you about 70pts of health and a succesful cast

Also I think it works even after the infernal pact buff wears off, when I used it stayed with me through out the whole fight, and If my theory is correct then it is worth using at least once a fight. not sure though, I will do some research and get back to you on that

all in all mine seems to work just fine

They fixed Infernal Pact's Lifetap proc in a previous live update. its been working for me since then. My master version of the spell has a 10% chance to proc and it works quite well =) as to the above statement of it remaining after the buff is gone, you might be noticing Insatiable Hunger or the after effect of our Decree Of Decay line of spells, as all lifetap procs are known as voracious soul (just with different numbers) although maybe your version of the spell is bugged?

your probably right armada, anyways I just got off of EQ2 and I was using infernal pact on my pet while he was fighting some greens, indeed it is up and working. (though I swear it is procing less then it was a weak ago)

I did some experiments last night and found out what was true and false

like I said before it was just a thoery, and by the way I have no idea whats up with that first partial post right above this one.

anyways it does proc, just not very much. just wanted to clear that all up

I use infernal pact all the time and to be honest the times I remember it actually proc a lifetap could be counted on a single hand (like twice). It just doesn't last long enough to do that, maybe two rounds of attacks. I use it mostly for 1) giving the priest a a bit of breather in tough fights or if soloing any damage avoided is good and 2) it seems to help on aggro generation. But for lifetap its basicly useless.

V/R

Blackoath 29th Troll Shadow Knight

Our ward is functionally usless as we move up in levels as a mitigation tool. Its great in spot situations (I do use all the time in solo situations), but with ward bleeding we acutally can cause more damage to ourselfs by using it. The proc on it is nearly usless as you move up in levels (wont even go into our power/return ratio on lifetaps). Hopefully they will look at this during the priest revamp.

For those not aware:

1) Assume: Mob hits for 1000

2) Assume: Mitigation against Damage is 60%

3) Assume: Ward protects for 500

If we were not to use a ward, we would mititgate 600 of the 1000 points of damage ... absorbing 400.

If we were to use the ward, the ward would mitigate 500 of the 1000 points of damage ... letting 500 go through unmitigated.

Lets picture a worse situation......

Lets say there is another mob (or mobs) in the engagment. It hits you for 450 (or a few hits totalling 450) points of damage .. leaving 50 available on the ward. That means if you take a 1k hit, 950 points of unmitigated damage is abosorbed by you. Is a 75 point hp proc, that proc's 5% of the time, or the slow/bad power ratio/small hp return LT going to help make up the difference?

Hopefully our wards will be tuned with the priest balancing that is supposed to occur next patch. This, our general damage/power ratio (this includes LT's) and Taunt values are IMO our 3 biggest issues.

Actually, I am starting to think that its Grafe's Malevolent Anguish thats broken and not infernal pact. I still have not seen a single lifetap proc from the advanced training version. I've gotten in some long play sessions over the last few days and still.. no procs.
