Can someone please introduce me to this man? I want to know what kind of [Removed for Content] it takes to come up with this crap. How did this development meeting go? Well bob, its time for Shadoknights, alright, traditionally they're evil knights with power over the undead. So uh, what should we give them for their pet? How abouts a [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]in bird!!!

What kind of [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] thought this bull[expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] up? A bird? I want to know how someone could be so damned moronic. And that goes for a whole bunch of other things that have been implemented in this game as well.

Please reveal the identity of this man so that I may smack him.

Message Edited by comfortablynumb on 03-22-2005 02:42 AM

haha, I was eating cereal while reading that last post, and I almost had milk coming outta my noise, lol.....

To the point, since our class was originally half necro, it would seem very odd that we would get the power to control a tainted soul blob instead of something rotting and zombie like. However this is not EQ1. In EQ1 the devs got lots of feedback saying that sk's were not really defined well (as for EQ2) so im guessing what they tried to do is seperate the shadowknight and the necromancer as much as possible, yet still make them both look like the most evilest classes in the game.

What the devs are really trying to do here is define the sk as a real tank (or so they say) and not put so much time into the half necro/mage part. We dont get a cool looking pet because OUR PET WAS NOT MEANT TO DEFINE US like a necro or conjurour. our pet is our best dot, and only fights along side us, yet we are still (supposedly) the ones doing most of the damage and taking all the hits. therefore not all emphasis should be put into our pet, but instead our tanking ability. It would also seem as an attempt to seperate us from the necros, we are now half tank/ half divine? In fact it seems we have lost control over the undead all together, and are focusing our power more along the lines of faith, determined zeal, and I guess soul snatching?? off the top of my head, lucans pact is the only undead spell i can think of that has anything to do with necromancy in general.

anyways im not really arguring you, I admit our pet is pretty simple looking, but all im trying to say (from a devs point of view) is that the focus is supposed to be the sk and not the pet, as for the bird, im lvl 37 so im not really sure what it looks like yet.

Well there is also the fact that Knights did use trained hawks in their time, I wonder if this had something to do with that decision. Hey at least its better than a beetle.

I'd settle for the vortex/evil being graphic of shadowmen.

I'm a 36 sk myself and expected to see a little skeleton of SOME sort appear in my spell line. I was soo disappointed the first time I grouped with a high lvl SK. When the high lvl SK pulled out a bird that uses the same [Removed for Content] graphic as all other other bird pets and mobs (color shifted of course), I was TICKED. A bird...not only does it look silly flying there hummingbird style, but it looks less intimidating then the sadistic coco puff of doom. The levatating birds in EQ are one of the graphics thing I hate the most in EQ2...that and the flying aggro fish. Make them smaller and circle around their position their position or something...they look silly just floating there wings flapping. The fact that the horse has gotten more press then the pet surprises me. It could be that so few people where using the pets and so many people were obviously using the horse...

Oh, and why does my app1 blob looks just like my adept 3 blob and any number of normal mobs? At least make the thing an actual ghost blob, ala wailing caves. I didn't use this spell for more then one lvl cause I was embarrased of it...much the same way necros wanna upgrade that silly scarab. So I go and upgrade the thing to...the exact same graphic. At least it's effective. I will say that. You can split pull with this guy and he's got some decent dmg/mit/avoidance. By the time I've got the first mob killed my pets almost dead, but the mob he's been fighting is at 50% or less. If I don't use him in a solo situation I can definatly tell by the amount of time it takes me to bring something down.

Im not to sure if I like the bird much yet or not, but lay off the blob. Its perfect the way it is. It's very well animated and its look makes perfect sense for what it is. Its a fragment of a soul that we ripped from a creature during battle that has been set loose on our prey. It has no real form as it is an incomplete noncoporeal being, also why it cannot maintain its existance for long periods of time. I think its fine the way it is and it makes sense as something that a novice shadowknight learns how to do. My god, we have so many other important things that need to be looked at and you guys cry like little girls about the bloody pet. Flame me, I don't care, the truth hurts.

So, apply your same theory to the bird and it falls apart. How is the bird justified? And why does the bird vanish? If its a ghost, then all ghosts should merely fade to black after a few minutes' existence.

Some of us care about the aesthetics of the game. It appears that you're just another person crying about crying. If you're so damned apathetic to the issue, why the hell did you even post what you did?

There is no logic to his theory, since this is a fantasy game and nobody has actually ever witnessed an incomplete noncorporeal being.

First off, please use a little reading comprehension and see the first line of my post. I specifically said that I wasnt too keen on the bird. Nothing more in my post other than that has anything to do with the bird. My post is specifically targeting the so called Coco-puff of doom, which I did find funny by the way. Overall, to put it simply it is in fact a fantasy game which means you cannot base your thoughts on reality which in case makes my theory sound. If you want a pet go play a conjuror or a necromancer. Our pets are nothing more than a DoT with an animation since everyone here want to base everything on fact and not fantasy.

pyroglyphix wrote:
There is no logic to his theory, since this is a fantasy game and nobody has actually ever witnessed an incomplete noncorporeal being.

How do you know what I have seen? I could be one of the people from the show "Ghost Hunters"!! You have no idea who I am or what I have seen. Maybe I've seen aliens too, or even maybe been abducted before!!.. come to think of it, I felt like I was walking funny for a few days afterwards.
