View Full Version : How do you use the SK pets?
<DIV>Just curious here - I've summoned them a few times. Frankly I cant tell what they do and they seem to disappear when the combat is complete? I've got around 70 tainted essence so I'd like to be able to start using this spell <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Help!</DIV>
I love my pet...Last night, I would pull a group of mobs, then sick the pet on one and switch to another...The pet would most often be able to keep up to my DPS! (most often <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ) so I could take down 2 with the same power in the same time I could take 1!I had so much fun last night with the return of my brown glob! Now without the removing-debuff goodness <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
<DIV>Aye but how do you use them?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Can you summon them before combat starts or only once you're in combat? Are they supposed to disppear after combat or do they follow you around?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>cant tell what they do?? have you read your backlog man?? your pet hits about 1/4 of what you hit during the fight, more or less. They are your best dot you have and they can debuff your enemy. at lvl 36 my pet ( adept 1) is hitting an average of 50pts per hit, and sometimes does 110pts of damage with its crushing blow or wild swing, which is a number I i can barely even hit on my own without the use of a spell. yes they do only last once per mob, but considering you can get 1-4 essences or more off one mob, its not a big deal to cast them more or once per fight ( though I never cast them when there are 3 or more mobs in a group, they die to quick and its just a waste of an essence). also toss in the fact that grim coil last only 4 ticks and takes like 60pts of power, and deals an average of 200pts of damage, then you must recast it, while your pet last a max of about 3 minutes, and can dish 500+pts of power, and only needs to be cast once</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was with a group yesterday fighting ^^ nightbloods and a group member brought up the dps of each fight. I was usually in the top three when it came to dps because of my pet. I would hit about an average of 2000-2500 per fight, while my pet would hit 500-700 pts of damage per fight. and that can make a whole lot of difference when groups think you are not putting in enough dps because you are a ridaculed sk class. sometimes I would out dps the scouts and wizards and even the MT ( i was offtanking half the time). </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>there are also alot of little (tricks) you can do with your pet once you learn how to use it. you'll figure it out, anyways I would advise you to use your pet to your full advantage, your not a zerker so you cant fight fast, your not a guardian so you cant withstand a fight for to long, and your not a healer so you dont have the power to keep up those wards, so when you need end a fight quicker hit that tainted sacrament and fight along side your pile of floating whatever it is.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I dont know why ppl say sk's cant dps, we are quite the fighter.</DIV>

<DIV>AHH!! Aion you gave away the secret, now we will surely get nerfed!!! (agian)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>oh well easy come easy go. anyways you can actually pull with your pet, which is great because then you can start your HO and use grim coil, then deaseise cloud ( that combination of an HO can do some major damage, plus your grimcoil dot is still going)</DIV> <DIV>anyways, yes it will not follow you around like a necro's pet does, this isnt EQ1 anymore, and will dissappear after it has killed its intended mob,)( and honestly im not sure I would want a little brown floating blob following me around) so your not doing anything wrong.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>funny thing is, back when the pet was working like a month ago, they actually made a patch that made it so the pet would stay the entire fight until all the group mobs were dead, instead of just being present to kill one mob. glitch?? i dont know, but tainted essences are so easy to get now that i will not argue it.</DIV>

<DIV>yea that pet is now our most effective dmg spell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>to answer your question you have to cast it will in encounter. it goes away after you kill mob, but one thing i didnt know is that if you switch to another before 1 dies, it will stay alive. thanks for that <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>The leap from Level 25 to 26 is huge with the addition of the "pet" to our arsenal. If you aren't using "Jablober," then you aren't maximizing your DPS potential. Period.</DIV><p>Message Edited by vwlssknght on <span class=date_text>03-11-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:41 AM</span>

www.combatstats.comUse it, love it. And the way to see your pets damage in your chat box in game is to turn "others damage on". if I remember correctly. But I just use combat stats on a few fights here and there to log group damage/DPS. I only issue I think combatstats might have is if more than 1 SK is in a group, as a_tormented_soul would be the pet name for both SK's. Works good otherwise. As for the level 40 pet or what ever level it is, I'm not sure combatstats will read it yet as I've not sent him logs to code it, and I seem to be the only SK working with him on it. So try it out, and if it doesn't catch your higher end pet, send me or the guy at combatstats a log of a fight and then a group members log of the same fight with your name identified.<p>Message Edited by Uggliey on <span class=date_text>03-11-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:09 PM</span>
Its basically a fighter class (bruiser? not too sure which abilities it uses) that looks like a brown globule, that lasts the duration of the mobs life. Comes complete with power, hit points and combat arts at its disposal.I havent tried buffing it yet with unhollowed aura to see if has an offensive proc, but it DID lifetap from the Shreik of Terror reactive proc, which really had me giddy!! They have voice overs that taunt the mobs I've cast it on (it said to one orc "See what you can do with me, Fighter!", plus a lot of other things <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ) It will also follow the mob around till it dies, so the mob runs for some reason, like a fear proc, the tainted soul will still stay on it, or if you root the mob and back up, it will stay with the mob.

No it will work for the level 26 pet at long as you are using the newest version of the program. It may NOT work for the high end pet. If it doesn't, then logs will be needed. Just use the program as normal.

wait a moment...so I can cast my pet and then cast unholy order and that will effect it? Or ward it like other group members?

And it gets the effect of your other group members aura buffs. I noticed before the patch it told me what buffs would fade on the pet when it would die/despawn. Haven't noticed if it still does. So yes it can get effect from buffs as far as I can tell.
