Black screen of...disappointment

I've attempted to login to beta a few times but all I get is sound and a black screen. I've verified game assets and double checked the download.<br /> <br />Any suggestions?<br /> <br />PS not a techie so hopefully I don't have to code anything to get it working!

Can you try hitting alt-enter to switch from full-screen to windowed? I've had that happen with new installs, when it is trying to play the opening cinematic and gets confused.<br /> <br />(That is the easiest thing to try, hopefully it helps. <crossing fingers> )

Do you have dx9? I've seen others in the past mention that it turned out to be the issue when having black screen.

Sadly alt-enter did not work. DirectX is up-to-date (V12 I believe) and presumably downward compatible - not to mention EQ2 works. I'm stumped and sorry I cant join in the beta =/

You'll actually need DirectX 9.0 (the two will co-exist together). Try installing it from the link above and see if that helps.
