<DIV>Im a 33 SK on the steamfront server.  All my armor cons Orange...mostly made up of Pristine Feyiron with exception of breast plate.  When I group with Paladins and Guardians that are of lower lever and worse gear they usually end up beint the MT....because they have an AC that is usually around 400-700 points better.  Am I missing something here are do those classes have AC buffs that make them better tanks?  </DIV>

<DIV>I don't know how that's possible, if they're the same level and have worse gear. I've been in plenty of groups where my AC was higher than that of the Guardian's.</DIV>

Not sure if its 400-700 points though, but I do know they have much higher defense ratings then kite shields.

If you are MT, I highly recommend using a shield. Shields do more than add a little extra AC. Sure there is stunning, but shields also add an inherant blocking ability while equipped (bruisers I think get that particular shield bonus without having to actually equip one). A good shield on the MT can honestly be the difference between you, and the puddle of what used to be you.

Also priest have buffs they put on the MT that raises their AC. So if you joined a group that already had the other tank classes as MT or the priest just assumed and put it on them, then they would have a higher AC. But otherwise, you should if you have better armor.

Go read the description of our "slam" line of spells. Many of them have a great little line that reads "increase threat by (ungodly amount here)" in addition to great damage and a stun component. That alone makes me want to use shields as a main tank most of the time, even discounting the extra chances for block and parry.

<DIV>Ya that is probablly the problem. I'm a 26 SK that always uses a a good sheild and have full cold hammered. I usually have higher AC then the guards. Unless they have full cold and a tower shield :smileytongue:. Even the guards that are a couple lvls higher then me I can still out tank em. So yea its probably the shield but not so sure about a 400-700 difference. Or maybe its your jewlrey your rings, belts, earings, ect can play a important part in your AC.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I found that out a lil late :smileyvery-happy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Blade-26 Shadow Knight on Toxxulia</DIV>
