View Full Version : Weapons flagged as magical and weapons that are not...

<DIV>Last night I was wandering through Runnyeye with my group and we slowly cleared all the way to the back of the zone. Near the back we started to run into higher level eyes. One thing I noticed was that on some of the higher level eyes I get an "immune" message whenever I try to attack them. At first I was reminded of Everquest 1 back when I first tried to hit a wisp and found out to my dismay I couldn't hurt them. The only thing that bothers me though is that to my knowledge there is no visable flag on weapons saying whether they are magical or not. I just swapped out my pristine forged feyiron longsword for my feysteel morning star and once again I could hurt it. I am just wondering if other people have run into this problem and if they plan on tagging items magical or not in the future. If player made items are non magical and mob dropped are I would imagine that will effect prices as well. In either case I just wanted to post and see if other people had run into this or not.</DIV>

It might be that they are immune to slashing damage.

<DIV>Good point, but I think the rogue in the group was having the same problem. I would imagine he would be using piercing weapons, I think they were ebon something or another.</DIV>

<DIV>Thought magic weapon should have particles in EQ2.</DIV>

<DIV>If that's the case, does that mean the player-made "Pristine" weapon that you were using is not magical?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If so, they need to make more weps drop in-game asap.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Because, right now, player made seems to be the best there is out there. </DIV>

I know in EQ1 weapons had a flag of either being magical or not but I think any weapon with modifiers (+Health +power +int etc...) is considered magical automatically whereas a weapon without modifiers is considered normal.Forged feyiron longsword - has no modifiers but a great weapon, not magicalfeysteel morning star - has modifiers is magicalthis is a generalzation but a logical one none the less

<DIV>I was using a pristine forged longsword which does infact have stats. But you may be right, player made items might not be magical. If that is the case then I can see some problems coming up as I progress into higher level dungeons.</DIV>

Ops my bad, somehow I came up with the wrong sword when I originally searched to see if it had modifiers, the one I saw had none. Oh well. It may be that it's just a bug with certain player made weapons and will be corrected. The sword you have is definatly magical in nature being it has modifiers, nice ones at that.If you know others at that level with other pristine forged feyiron weapons who were able or not able to deal melee damage to the same mobs may help to determin if it's a bug with that one sword or all player made weapons.

<DIV>I had this exact same problem deep in Runnyeye with my forged feyiron blade though it was only on the EE defenders that I saw, switched to my feysteel morning star and started hitting again. Later I replaced the feyiron blade with a dropped feysteel blade of same type and haven't seen an immune message since.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Think player made weapons, even if they have stats, aren't magical.. possibly a bug</DIV>
