I still have the Dragon Magazine where Gary Gygax invented the class. When he first wrote it, they were simply known as "Anti-Paladin". I played as an "anti-paladin" for about 6 years in AD&D (go ahead laugh.) This shadow knight is no anti-paladin. A Shadow Knight should be the harbinger of doom, the wake of destruction. I should be able to summon undead and procure demons to do my bidding. My NIGHTMARE (not ashy pony) should have FIRE coming from his hooves. Jeez SOE, think Nazgul if you need a character reference. BIG black scary mofo. I am about to turn lvl 20 and have already finished the subclass quest, but after all I just read on this forum, I am left feeling limp. Hopefully, the horse will be cool, I will be powerful, and not totally useless as many have made it seem. 9% till lvl 20, oh boy.Is this thing on?

<DIV>There are many posts regarding the Summon Horse issue and mostly complaints in one form or another. This post would be better served in one of those post. I'll post a thread if you want to read up more about it </DIV>

<DIV>Here ya go. Not trying to be rude but many posts scattered across a few different threads all saying the same thing won't catch the attention of the devs as much as one mass protest thread.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><A href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=9&message.id=563" target=_blank>http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=9&message.id=563</A></DIV>

<DIV>As much as I might agree with you I must interject.  At level 20 we are effectively level 1 Shadowknights.  We are the snot nosed whiny initiates to the order.  So don't expect the world to tremble in your presence just yet.  As for the miffed looking pony they call an unholy steed.  I am under the assumption that we get another horse at higher levels (or atleast I was told that by a 42nd level inquistor last night) that being the case maybe that one will look more befitting.  The only point I am trying to get across is don't expect to see Lord Nagafen cowering in fear from a level 20 Shadowknight.  You have to earn that oh so wicked reputation you are seeking.</DIV>

<DIV>I tend to agree. We are crusaders who have just realized the potential within us. We are not the avatars of darkness that we are described to be quite yet. We're still very new.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm level 25, but in reality I'm still a level 5 Shadowknight. I neither expect nor deserve a nightmare steed... yet.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'll hold my tongue until I've achieved a respectable level within the Shadowknight caste itself.</DIV>

<DIV>I just have to say about the horse that it has to be one evil mofo! To be so hated in such a short period of time by both owners and onlookers he's managed pretty good to stir up feelings.</DIV>

Retraction: The horse rox. I don't know what these people here were talking about. I have to say that after reading some of the posts here I jumped the gun. I'm just a lvl 1 shadowknight. No Biggie. ALL PROPS to SOE for making an inthralling, fast paced game. LOVE IT.And yes, my horse is a bad bad horsie.http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/pplayer.vm?characterId=161387114

<DIV>Honestly Icculus you were right in some ways with the first post. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The thing is, classes aren't really classes in EQ2. They're just mildly flavored sub-archetypes. This is the trade-off the dev's made when they chose balance over variety as the core of the gameplay design concept. We WILL see more flavor come into play as the game matures, but for right now, i'm glad they chose this path. In the long run the game will be more stable as a result IMO.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>p.s. I'm with you on the AD&D tip...the main reason I ditched the Cleric class after playing it for 5yrs in EQ1 was because of the HUGE deviation from the AD&D archetype that first Verant, then SoE, insistently pursued. Compared to that travesty, the SK's in EQ2 are phenomenal heh!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
