View Full Version : Odd mix of stats on quest reward gear

Sometimes the mix of stats on the available quest rewards seems to be *wrong* - Arid Roots gives a choice of two cloaks: Wrap of Magma Scale and Cloak of Mesa Stone. Both have 427 str/agi/wis/int, 784 sta, 61.3 crit chance, 62 crit bonus, and 5 resolve.

Wrap of Magma Scale has 23.2 doublecast, 529.9 potency, 9.5 casting speed, 20k health and *429 weapon skills*
Cloak of Mesa Stone has 35.1 attack speed, 18.4 flurry, 310.3 potency, 22k ability mod and *429 spell casting skills*

Melee skills are almost useless to most classes who can take advantage of a high doublecast, and most classes that can take advantage of high flurry have limited use for spell casting skills.

Is there are reason that no gear with double cast has spell skills or focus, just melee skills.. and everything with flurry has the spell skills?
That is, literally, making 1 set or the other of those useless... scouts/melee healers get no benifit from double cast or spell skills and mages and casting healers get no benifit from melee skills (and only a tiny bit from flurry).

If there are 4-6 possible rewards from a quest, I'd rather get to pick then have to deal with an arbitrary "you're a defiler, you get this piece" situation. Armor, sure, give me the chain pieces. Weapons, give me the ones I can equip. But if there are two necklaces, let me pick the one that suits my playstyle.

And if there's only one reward that's intended for everyone, it had best be useful to everyone. Don't put flurry with no doublecast if you're giving it to mages in addition to scouts.

If those are the stats that go live, i agree that makes no sense. Caster cloak should be caster skills. Melee cloak should be melee skills. There shouldn't be a weird mix. Potency and crit bonus should be equal on each piece. Why is this so hard to make gear that makes sense and is immediately desirable?
