I dont know what the progression all the way to level 10 in one of the classes is, but I have over a mil in the first day. I do not see why this would be bad as long as the quest content supports it.

Considering you can only gain 1 mil ascension XP (when expac is released) every 24 hours and level 5 requires 29 mil (total from level 1 to 5) that would mean at least 29 days to get to level 5 on one class. I could be wrong here but we would be looking at around 90 days per class to get to max? If that is true then it well take all expac to level all ascension classes unless there well be other ways to obtain guided ascension scrolls other then the NPC's.

You guys do realize that there are several zones in game (current ones, not new KA ones) where you can easily grind huge amounts of XP, right? I was getting around 100 tithe points per hour one afternoon in HKC... this was like 9 months ago, on a warlock. Also, the zone quests and dailies for TOT heroics give pretty massive XP... over 400k each for me, plus the XP from the actual mob kills too.

We're going to be gated by the fact that we can only get one ascension XP scroll per day from the trainer, not by the fact that it takes millions of XP to level.

While I get that some things are just not meant to be casual player friendly, I hope that solo and adv solo zones will give enough exp that I do not have to spend all my playtime grinding to level vs enjoying other aspects of the game. I am concerned that the "playstyle" gap could cause players who aren't grind oriented an even harder time with casually grouping, as the lack of Ascension levels might be cause for more focused players to not want to group with them (just playing devils advocate here).

Thoughts on this from those whose focus will be on maxing their levels daily wanting to play with those who take a more casual approach? Do you perceive these abilitys to be such a game changer that the lack of them will make you reject grouping with folks (even on a casual basis) who do not focus on them?

/sigh

If you chose to solo you chose less XP and less gear. Welcome to life. Start a company or work for minimum wage. But a 1980's Chevette or a 2017 Mercedes. Rent a house or buy one. Get a GED or a Masters degree. These are all personal choices based on the level of effort you put into them. Gaming is no different. Do the time to earn the dime.

This is an expansion and has to last an entire year. It's not intended to be completed in a week. And I'm glad.

My question, simply put again is this:

Do you, as a self proclaimed "2017 Mercedes" player find the benefits of the Ascension class to be so great that you would refuse to group with a "1980's cheverolet" playstyle person on a casual basis (ie random pugs or guildies who just aren't as motivated or have time constraints preventing them from being a Mercedes), or do you find the Ascension class, as it stands, to be a nice but not necessary requirement to grouping?

I thought you could use as many of the beta buffs as you want, they just only last for 24 hours if you don't actually use the 1 million?

I didn't "self proclaim" anything. It was just a blanket statement. I group with anyone and everyone. I'm powerleveling and gearing up a returning player as we speak.

My opinion on the Ascension classes:
1. I would have preferred levels 1-100. I enjoy having something to look forward too. 100 levels just feels like a sense of accomplishment. 1-10, not so much.
2. I think their casting times are horribad and their abilities seem a bit lackluster to me. I like the potency buff now that I understand it.
3. I like the direction the devs are going with this. I'll like it more when I see how the Ascension classes are used in solo, heroic and raid zone mechanics.

Does it really take 3,000,000 xp to level up one time?

If so I'm no longer excited about this.

Thank you Zues for a thoughtful and informative reply. I think 10 levels gives them room to add another 10 next expac... ect and so on. It seems that traditional levels are not going to exceed 100 anytime soon. The second point you make sounds like scouts would actually be hurting using ascension class abilities then, as timing is everything when your auto attack is 2.3 seconds.. especially if ascension abilities are lackluster? I might be reading into what you said, but it sounds like you are saying casual players will still be viable without maxxing these abilities, for casual playstyle heroics and the like.

As always, everything goes out the window when talking about raids and advanced heroics =p I am fine with that!

Feels like an unnatural way to slow us down. Lockouts on everything is like trying to keep us playing by not letting us play lol.
