<DIV>Sorry if this has been covered, but all the threads I found on FD seem to be about it's percentage success mechanics.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How do people incorporate FD when tanking? So far, my only experience is is to FD and rez the healers when the group wipes. Are there any viable strategies to keep the group alive? I've used FD to get a group past mobs we want to skip...but in those cases the group isn't engaging. I'm still new to this class, and my guild doesn't have any high level brawlers to pester <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Thanks in advance.</DIV>

In a regular group (not a raid), I've FD'd before when the healers just couldn't quite keep up. One second of down time allows the heals to catch up a bit, and then you stand back up and keep whacking. As long as your group stays in combat with the mob, it wont forget how much it hates you and a 1 or 2 second break shouldn't break your hold on aggro. Sure, a squishy may die while you are down, but if you didn't FD, then you'd be dead instead of alive and the group would wipe anyway. I've also used it when there's more than one tank-capable character in the group if I'm in the red and about to die. In that case, I'll stay down until the other tank is in the red or I'm back in the green.FD is also extremely useful for splitting a gaggle of mobs. Sometimes you just can't body pull the target you are after. In this case, I'll pull everything, have someone in the party damage the target we're after, and then I'll FD. All the mobs not part of the damaged encounter will run back and we'll be left fighting the encounter we want.<div></div>

You can take your chest item off, feign death, and get a massage from a sexy wood elf =)

Also, jumping off cliffs and FDing in the air is always a hit at parties. And don't forget to FD whenever you get hit by a snowball.</div><p>Message Edited by ekopocka on <span class=date_text>01-22-2007</span> <span class=time_text>01:41 PM</span>

<DIV>I'll second the notion of using feign death to pick out a single encounter from a crowded area of enemies. Just run through the mobs to get aggro from the intended encounter, lead them all to a safer location where your group is waiting, have a groupmate tap the intended target once with their weapon, feign to drop all the others, then pop back up to resume on that target. It works great, and its well faster than just body pulling and plowing through all the baddies to reach the target. We use this tactic often during named hunts. Some buffs that are on you though may apply hate to a groupmate when you are hit, making that groupmate a subject of enemy aggression and preventing the unwanted encounters from breaking when you feign. I suggest having groupmates remove any buffs that react upon hit you receive. In our case, as a duo, my defiler partner needs to remove the constant ward buff before we can do this reliably. Also, any pets in the group should be set so they will not retaliate, in the case that the enemies use aoe's that can draw them (and their owners) into combat. Using this tactic and feign running from location to location, we can hunt named all night through a zone and kill nothing but placeholders and the named themselves.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Another use for feign death I've successfully employed as a tank is dropping an add that patrols near you in mid-fight. You have to be quick, feigning the moment the add aggros on you, and you can't have any active beneficial spell like a heal or ward occur on you between the time you're aggroed and the moment you feign. Do it right though, and you can hit the ground and pop back up without your group generating any hate on the add, sending the add back to his spawn point and allowing you to continue on your original encounter without interuption. Its not 100% guarantee of breaking the add's encounter, and not possible if you have any wards, HoT's, or reactive heals running on you at the time of the add's aggression, but I've used this tactic successfully more times than I can count.</DIV>

<div></div>Yes its an incredible smart way of dealing with adds, if your healers dont pay attention or know what you are doing, you could be dead (or your healers, after a couple FD stunts like that they will learn lol). Tactics like these that demands great timing and knowledge of other classes to put threw, should happen with <b>Team Speak</b> or <b>Ventrilo</b>, macroes would also work but bigger chance that ppl will miss it.<div></div>

Another thing I discovered this weekend was that you can interact with NPC's while you are feigning death! I completed a ton of quests in Sanctum of Scaleborn by running up to the NPC, feigning death, doing the quest dialog, and then standing up and running out. It would have taken me forever to clear the jail room solo, but once I figured this out, I completed about 3 or 4 quests in there in no time.<div></div>
