I've currently played my Bruiser to level 27, one bar to 28. I've got full Dreadnaught armor (AQ's) and 2 Crafted pristine Batons, with Gleaming strike (7x-1xx dmg proc). At this point, I feel extremely useless whenever I get jumped pvp. I realize that i'm not as twinked out as my competition but still feel like 3rd rate DPS and a terrible tank even with 2600ish avoidance. Can anyone provide some light at the end of the tunnel to motivate me to continue leveling him, as i've taken a recent break to start crafting and getting my vit up to shorten the time that i actually have to level him, because I always reroll a lot when I start a new MMO and I thought this was going to be the guy i'd stick with..

thanks.

Basically this applies to everyone who solos, you will have trouble, always. Find someone who you can duo with, even another bruiser, end-game lvl70 pvp you will be one of the strongest pvp classes if not the strongest overall. Scouts will always be your bane, mainly cos they see you when you can't see them, so offset by getting you a scout friend. Make friends with a brigand and its game over, no one can stop you! If you wat to last longer rather than rely on killing quickly, make friends with a fury or even better, a defiler.

The key to being a successful brawler in pvp, is to eliminate the surprise tactic from the enemy. Make friends!

EDIT: Oh, and I don't know what the economy is like, but always upgrade to mastercrafted, the stats are good and resists are generally okay, it won't be until t7 you will find good legendary gear.

Message Edited by eyes007 on 12-15-2006 09:52 AM

Yeah, forgot to mention, my friend plays an even level Inquisitor which is another reason why I didn't want to reroll, cause I doubt he'd wait forever for me to relevel.. but idk. Even with him some times it seems like I still don't tank very well and also that my damage still isn't that good.. idk it might be pretty good but Idk it's just kinda boring only having 1 weapon type to pick from,I try to vary it up but I still in the end just feel like once I hit my 2 stuns in pvp, my game is over... Also my GI makes me look like a professional wrestler want to be. haha... what does GI stand for?

Do you use your group taunt to interrupt any casts (mainly for casters)?

Gi (gee~) : It is just a martial arts uniform. Most of the low level Gis are crap except for maybe the Belligerent Gi and Blood Drenched Gi.Level 28 is not a good level to be at because of all the 30s running around. Get up to level 32 or 34 and lock until you get better equipment.

On a stand up one on one I would normally leave healers alone as I'd go for far quicker kills (in case of detection), but scouts are dangerous because by the time you react half your health could be gone.

oh im beating the crap out of healers before and after eof. granted the stuns on our knockbacks not having as much effect for interrupts, i can still dps enough to make the healer do nothing but healing. timing knockout combo, your interrupts, and knowing what abilities to use when helps a lot. my hardest fights are definately furies just because they can heal well and produce massive spell dps. wardens are always a tough fight, but i can usually do enough dps to overcome them. for healers that ward i can also do enough dps to overcome the ward and it is usually a long fight, but in the end i win. if anything i play the terrain to my advantage and try to knock the healer off a cliff or into aggro. some may call it cheap, but i just call it knowing your class' limitations and tactics to win.offensive stance is a must for healer fights, the extra dps from the proc helps quite a bit. time knockout combo with your aoe interrupt taunt and time those knockbacks well. use throwing weapons often and always have the sta debuff from mantis running because it reduces them by about 500-800 hp depending on the level you have of it.of course fighting healers at low levels is out of the question. main reason being resists are hard to come by at lower levels and those spells will do massive amounts. also no stone deaf, close mind, sonic fists, knockout combo, maybe fear, and other abilities make it even harder. healers are always the toughest of fights, but they get easier as you progress in levels.my tactic for fighting healers at low levels was to knock them off a cliff or dont even try fighting them. there really is no chance if they are even a decent healer at best. and knocking healers off certain structures will no longer do any damage to them or not as much as it used to. giving everyone a form of safefall is such a idiotic idea, and it sucks that we no longer have an advantage that was something specific to scout classes and brawlers.

Message Edited by Devaster on 12-15-2006 07:17 AM

The other day I threw a healer off the bridge inside RE and he only took 1700 damage so two seconds later he was back at full health. That fall used to be fatel to me until I had a safe fall rating over 50 and now any class can survive it.

The bruiser class has a lot of versatility to it, even against groups. Lets say I take on a pair ^^heroics 5 levels below me, here's what I do.

Run in while mezzing the other mob2.

Lay the KO Combo smackdown while stunning and jumping around like popcorn in a popper. Make sure you give 1/2 second between CA's for autoattacks.

About halfway down mob1 life's, the mez runs out on mob2, so you then fear that other mob, then keep beating on the first one until it dies.

Now the second mob comes back to you and he's alone suddenly and much easier to defeat. They are so much easier when their buddy is decaying next at their feet.

Obviously things will vary, but I got so good at defeating pairs of ^^heroics, that I didnt even need heal myself, but you could if you wanted. Nor did I have to use Close Mind. And even if something did go wrong, FEIGN! Your feign gives you a get out of jail free card to test these encounters into the ground. To answer your fundamental question, yes, bruiser has "the stuff".

And what about all those raids where your feign saves you from repair cost and XP/AA debt, and the ability to rez the raid in a tough spot. I'm tellin ya man, Bruiser is the way to go. You can definitely play a brawler the wrong way. But if you keep at it, you can do almost anything. It's truly kickbooty.
