View Full Version : Something's wrong
<DIV> <P><SPAN>I have a fairly twinked out level 41 Bruiser. All Combat Arts that count are at Adept III or better. The rest are mostly Adept I. The majority of her equipment is Master Crafted. </SPAN><SPAN></SPAN></P> <P><SPAN>Last night I was doing quests in the Steamfont Mountains. For one of the quests I needed to kill Ebon Drakes. Since they are 5 levels higher than my Bruiser I was prepared for a tough fight. It was indeed tough but she came out on top in the end. After resting I tried another Drake of the same level. It flat out resisted EVERYTHING I threw at it. After using every offensive combat art in the book I had hardly dented it. Then it went ahead and killed her. After the resurrect penalty had expired I picked another Drake and this time I decided to play it safe. So I used Defensive Stance (had been using Offensive Stance in the previous fights) and I also used the mitigation buff (Strapping Spirit?). This time she actually landed at least half of the attacks. But the fight quickly went south as the Drake did some major damage. The death blow did such massive damage I didn’t even have time to FD. I thought the chances of survivability would be better with Defensive Stance. </SPAN></P> <P><SPAN>I figured I should test it so I went on a Minotaur killing spree. The Minotaurs I took on were all level 45. I wanted to get a big enough sample so that equipment procs wouldn’t affect the outcome. The pattern I got was confusing to say the least. I got resisted more when using Offensive Stance than when using Defensive Stance. It should have been the other way around. Same thing with damage received. It was much higher when using Defensive Stance than with Offensive Stance. Defensive Stance in combination with Strapping Spirit was outright suicide. Combined with Offensive Stance the Strapping Spirit actually lowered the damage taken. Any mathematician out there who can explain this? For a layman like me it seems like all numbers are reversed.</SPAN></P></DIV>

<DIV>As a level 43 Bruiser myself I have all but quit using my MIT buff. Like you, I have nothing backed up with data, but I have found many anomolys as well. I always fight in defensive stance, always. Now, I typically grind/quest heroic mobs only (I just can't stay out of dungeons, feel awkward leveling on the mainlands) and seek out named mobs at least once or twice a week to solo. Varsoon for example, a level 35^^^ I have fought every other day or so for the past couple weeks. When I have my mit buff up he absolutely owns me, when its down I come out on top, this is starting at 42 btw. Flaw with the MIT buff or pure random chance? Not sure but I have noticed it enough when fighting nameds or groups of no arrow or ^ and ^^ heroics to take note. My health bar definately seems to drop much faster with MIT buff up than down.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I noticed this and have since seen it mentioned somewhere else as well. I should really get off my [Removed for Content] and do some parsing with this. Max hit and average hit would be an intersting thing to look at over the course of a fairly detailed parse..</DIV>

You obviously have done some testing, my lazy [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] on the other hand, has not....</DIV>

<DIV>I never use my mit buff while soloing simply because the health cost overbears what the mit buff... mitagates. Its good in groups because you have a healer to offset the health tic but when your by yourself it especially isnt now with the mit curves in place.</DIV>
