View Full Version : A Bruiser's Best Buddy
<DIV>Hey guys, a friend and I are both looking to reactivate our accounts and grind together, and he has decided he wants to play a Bruiser. I originally wanted to be a Brigand, but after some research on the forums I've found that they're nerfed and alot of Brigands are complaining.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What class would make the best duo with a Bruiser? We're talking both PvP AND PvE here.</DIV>

Best would be a defiler/mystic, because they have wards which work well with our avoidence, parries, deflections and so on. The debuffs help, too. But a fury or warden would be good too, because the HoTs work, too. Wardens a little better because of longer HoTs. Don't even try duoing with a Cleric (Templar or Inquistar) reactive heals dont work well with our high avoidence, and deflections. But if you are thinking of DPS, any good single DPS nuker/melee toon with good de-agros.<p>Message Edited by Smythy on <span class=date_text>12-06-2006</span> <span class=time_text>08:18 PM</span>

<DIV>If your playing on a pvp server and want a good dou try bruiser-necro. Keep the pvp'er off the necro and let him burn away. Both have fake death and both do well together.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Although don't let the boards fool you brigands are still a good class.</DIV>

A healer. Then just add any classes for a good group or take down heroics duo.Assuming that you'll be playing on a PvP server that leaves: Defiler, Inquisitor, Fury, and Warden.Alot of people would suggest Fury and Warden as they are the higher DPS healers but I would say consider using a Defiler or Inquisitor too.As I personally play an Inquisitor I'll list some good points:- Use plate armour, ie can take hits and uses different armour.- Great debuffs.- Good damage buffs.- Almost limitless power at higher lvl.- Fast, powerful heals. (I can heal brawlers fine. Probably not as good as a Shaman but just as good as a druid)- Root and Fear. And the cons:- Lower DPS unless you spec AA's correctly- No invis or group invis- No evac- Need to work hard to heal brawlers

<div></div>Any Druid/shaman combo works great for PvE I'd go with a Warden for PvP due to dps, roots, snares, heals. Evac has been changed I believe, but a would be nice, as well as ports around the world (GFay, Steamfront, Butcher Block mountains, Commonlands and Antonica).<strike>[edit: Brigands are not nerfed that bad, Im wooping [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] still with mine]</strike><div></div><p>Message Edited by ganjookie on <span class=date_text>12-06-2006</span> <span class=time_text>11:41 PM</span>
<P>How does a Dirge do? They appeal to me a good deal.</P> <P>And about the Brigands - I know they're still a good class, but from what I understand the Swashbucklers are far better... so why bother?</P>

First and foremost, you absolutely have to have track if you want to pvp effectively. Another thing, as a brig, you'll be able to stop a lot of runners, with a stun ranged, long range and short range snare they are by far the best at stopping runners. Plus the group invis will help a lot in pve and a little in pvp. Trust me, if you guys want an effective duo on a pvp server, roll a brig. -Lenny, 70 Brigand -Hutch, 32 Bruiser <div></div>

Bruisers have week encounter aggro abilities, so it is very hard to keep the rest of the encounter from peeling off to the warlock. My fiancee and I are a bruiser/warlock duo, and I had to go down the wis AA line and I have to switch targets continuously to try to keep them off her. She's never really understood the whole "hold back a little at the beginning" thing, and now she has Rift, too. I need to find a high-level weapon with an AE proc.Thoral, 68 Bruiser, Mistmoore</div>

Another thing, if you've never used track before....find a good scout, and have them school you on tracking. It takes a bit to be good at it for pvp purposes. I play with a dirge regularly and I think the advantages you'll have running as a duo will far outway what they would be had you rolled a Dirge. Range stun'em, use short range snare, then Black Jack line to root...they still get away from you...then comes the long range snare. Dead Q. - Lenny, 70 Brigand -Hutch, 32 Bruiser<div></div>

Nukes equal dead bruiser. Oh yeah...plus you'll get a Taunt...sucky taunt, but a taunt nonetheless. And Beg for Mercy. Will help if you guys are maybe trying to duo a Q 5-6 levels higher than you that is fighting back. Taunting is very effective in pvp. -Lenny, 70 Brigand -Hutch, 32 Bruiser<div></div><p>Message Edited by ramglobaltx on <span class=date_text>12-08-2006</span> <span class=time_text>05:52 AM</span>

depends on what you want to do. for full groups a healer and bruiser combo would be the best. for smaller groups of 2-3 players dps is your best bet or some crowd control. dirge is one of my favorite duo partners due to the buffs, crowd control, speed, and moderate dps. brigands are ok, but invis and track aren't something you need for pvp.bruisers do a ton of dps in pvp, and can be immune to up to 3 spells, immune to everything but snare for about 30seconds, cure trauma/arcane, and heal themselves. id suggest picking more of a supportive role to the bruiser, because dps isn't the best combo for another dps class.<div></div>
