Yes it is possible to have a woodelf bruiser, but you must first begin as a woodelf monk. You must then at a certain level do the betrayal quests. I don't know too much about the betrayal quest steps, since I never did the betrayal quests myself. It should be easy to find though with using search tool on the forums or by checking out Ogaming.

like he said very possible, but is it worth it? IMO not at all. just make a half elf or something. the Betrayal quests are what some may call a big pain in the [Removed for Content] and after everything is said and done you need to go and upgrade your skills all over again.

Hey 2ligit.

Yeah it's totally possible, and although it is a lot of work, I respect people more when I say they are a betrayed combo, much like High Elf Shadowknights, it just shows people that that's exactly what you wanted to be. Anyways, here is a link to a wonderful guide for betraying Qeynos to Freeport. I'm sure they have new NPC's for Kelethin to Freeport betrayal, but no one has written that yet, so here it is.

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=quest&message.id=117563

Enjoy.

Wood Elf Bruisers are possible and not at all as hard to get as some people would have you think. What you do is create a wood elf monk, and then get to at least level 10 as a monk. Then you have to betray to freeport, a complete guide to which can be found here. The only real annoying part of the quest is towards the end when you have to train that stupid dog, but when I did it for my troubador it only took me 20 minutes or so for the dog, so it's not that bad. All in all the whole betrayal from start to finish shouldn't take you more than a day or two. And wood elf bruisers do rock, and if betrayal had been available on PvP servers when they launched, my bruiser would be a wood elf or a high elf, instead of a half elf.

This is my main and a wood elf bruiser at that, I was a monk for 70 levels and betrayed which took 2 nights to do, easy as. You don't get the strength some classses do, but the agility makes up for it, and you can get alot of str gear anyway. Its very cool to play an unconventional character, peopel see a woodie and assume its a monk :smileywink: That's what I miss alot in EQ2, the roleplaying, there are the servers that are dedicated to it, but I don't live in that timezone Good luck!

Thanks guys for all the helpful responses!

I just finished creating a woodelf monk and will follow the guide linked when I get him to level 12.

Again... Thanks.

I have a 29 Wood Elf Bruiser. She betrayed around level 17, and she's now got the whole FP espionage motif going on. It took about 6 hours to do betrayal. Also, there is a gi you can get as a monk in The Caves off qeynos. L12 I think (just do every quest at the entrance). In any case, if you're Gi only, and you probably are, you wont replace this Gi for a while, not until Bloodsoaked if youre that hardcore.

That Gi in the caves was removed MOOOONTHS ago;(You can find a Gi for your teens, early 20s in freeport. I believe it is in the Ruins, and you get it off a ring event, as well as a nice Legendary Robe.

(name evades me currentyl, Lo'Tusk maybe)

Message Edited by ganjookie on 11-22-2006 10:09 AM

My wood elf bruiser is lev 69, and is probably my favorite char to play. However, I did do the old school betrayal quest, so I didn't have anything to lose in terms of upgraded combat arts.

wow, can't believe that was my first post. somewhat anti-climactic...

Don't let people tell you the betrayal quests are all that bad. It can be completed in about 3-5 hours depending on if you've read up on what you're doing. I betrayed from monk to bruiser and it was quite easy. I was lvl 70 though. Plus you get to see The Haven, which admittedly isn't all that great, but its a part of the game you wouldn't see otherwise.

Ive gone through 6 betrayals at one time or another for one reason or another spread across my toons. The 3-6 hours spent on it is absolutely nothing in the grand scheme. If that's what you want, you should definitely do it. I've done two high levels betrayals, against the advice of so many folks, and boy am I glad I did. The old standby is that your new subclass will fall out of favor with SOE someday, but if you let that rule your life, you'll never be happy ingame. There was a time when you could just roll up an alt instead, but after the introduction of AAs and lengthy questlines like Claymore, it would be counterproductive.

Edit: I've done a lot of soul searching on why so many people are against high level betrayal. Typically their answer is one of experience in MMOGs. They say "This year's worst tank will be next year's best", and they have evidence to back it up, so it's hard to argue against. But after all this time, I have to honestly say that that's an excuse for people who themselves want to betray, but wont because they're scared of the future, and scared of replacing those masters. If it's a person who has no desire to betray but is dishing out the same advice, I've often found those folks arguing because their subclass is frequently getting lovins' from SOE, or at least not being slammed or ignored by SOE. They havent had to suffer for months or years. I try not to even get into the discussion with them.

Message Edited by Supple on 12-15-2006 10:48 AM

Its not at all hard to betray, i betrayed a wood elf monk to bruiser for your same reason, i prefer the wood elf look, from start to finish it took 10 hours to get to freeport from qeynos, and that was starting betrayl at lv 10, it is all soloable, the faction quests at the end can be troublesome but not impossible, im so much happier as a wood elf bruiser than a wood elf monk.

on another note ive done the new and old betrayls, and the above posts about 3-6 hours seems a little inaccurate, 8-10 hours is a bit more accurate,im not trying to offend anyone here, but ive done it the faction quests at the end there is no fast way to accomplish those all the sneaking into the city, and traveling, etc, thats the time consuming parts.
