I got EQ2 two days ago. As you can imagine, I am brand new. I am drawn to brawlers, but I have studied the forums and see a bit of negativity about monks and bruisers. I was wondering if you could please help me out with a few questions.

(1) Should I make a monk or a bruiser?

(2) Should I make neither a monk nor a bruiser? (I am not drawn to scouts and mages, in case you would like to advise another class.)

THANK YOU for all your help in advance.

EQ2NT

Don't pay any attention at all to the negativity on the boards. A massively new expansion has just came out. With new skills and abilities and as such people tend to complain about what they WANT. So its not a good judgement of the class. In that regards both brawlers are fairly equal and extremelty fun. Choose what you like.

I tend to like bruisers though because we are the best =P

Enjoy the game its really came along way and this expansion is one of the best.

Message Edited by Gungo on 11-16-2006 10:43 AM

I think it all depends on your playstyle... well, the playstyle you think you are having.Brawlers in general are a great class. Very versatile. They can tank, they can dps, they can solo. But in each department, they aren't the best. If you want to be the best (raid) tank, roll a warrior - if you want to be the best dps, roll a scout/mage - if you want to be the best soloer, roll a summoner (Necro, Conjurer) or a Coercer if you like a real challenge.From all the chars I have, my Bruiser is the most fun

Message Edited by Sir_Halbarad on 11-16-2006 09:22 PM

Bruisers are more of the self centered kind. As for a monk they help out the grp some.

I have both but I favor my bruiser even after the EoF updates

try them both out, you will find the one you like before lvl 20 and then go from there or if your like me play them both.

~Odio

<Sabotage>

venekor

At start the bruiser is a fair amount stronger than the monk, but that quickly fades away. THe monk is easier to solo with, and a much more durable toon. The BNruiser takes more damage and is harder to keep up than the monk is. In effect compairing my monk (lvl 27) to my Bruiser (lvl 24) there is a big difference; the bruiser is not as durible as the monk is, and harder to keep going. Although I play both bare handed, I may have to start equiping my bruiser so he can do more damage and maybe kill more before he gets killed.
