Make sure you are actually facing the mob for the auto attack to work. Also try to time auto attack hit between your CAs (wurmy is slow). <div></div>

Do you all try to stazy away from the mob while spells are refreshing and you have no mez or fear left? If so, what is your technique?

Do you use the numbers over the mobs head, the text in your combat window, or something else? Thanks,Thoral, 57 Bruiser, Mistmoore</div>

I'm surprised no one else mentioned it. I've seen non-uber monks dps almost as much as I do just using this line. Personally, I like a 2hand and the wisdom line, but the slow weapon gives me a perfect chance to time my attacks out so that I'm either pressing a hotbutton with another about to pop up (including AE) or Auto-attack in the 2-3 secs I don't have an ability up. I'm not a great fan of auto-attack damage as with the slow wep mine is crap (I use Hamer of the Dragonborn - not huge dps I know but it's a great tank weapon with a +5 to defence), but again, perhaps the str line? Maybe I missed something you mentioned.

<DIV>Sirmamabear, could you give us examples off top of your head of say the margin difference between you and the other bruiser? He 1300 you 700? He 900 you 800? What margin are we working with?</DIV>

<div></div><div><blockquote><hr>sirmamabear wrote:time your autoattack? Exactly how do you do this?Doloris<div></div><hr></blockquote>You look at the amount of time it takes your weapon to cycle, and then consider the amount of haste you have. If you have a 2 second delay weapon and 100% current haste, you will be firing autoattack every second. therefore, you want to time your CAs so that they happen between the autoattacks because they have a .5 second cast time. For example:Bruiser_01 turns on autoattack, swings his weapon, then immediately tosses out two CAs. They take .5 seconds to perform, with a .1-.2 second margin inbetween, and a .1 second delay between the autoattack registering and his actually hitting the button. therefore, by the time he has finished his 2 CAs, ~1.3 seconds has elapsed. Since his weapon is on a 2 second delay with 100% haste, it would be swinging every 1 second, except that he just spent 1.3 seconds performing CAs, during which autoattack cannot cycle. Bruiser_01 just lost .3 seconds worth of autoattack time.Bruiser_02 knows that his CAs only refresh so fast, and that he's going to have some time of CA cooldown between CA volleys, so he instead decides to perform his CAs differently. He turns on autoattack, performs his weapon attacks, then immediately tosses out one CA. It takes .5 seconds to perform, after the .1-.2 seconds he is delayed before he realizes that his autoattack has been performed. Therefore, when his CA is finished, only .7 seconds have elapsed, and his weapon is only .3 seconds from being ready to swing again. As soon as he sees the weapon swing, he fires off the second CA that Bruiser_01 fired off before, and he has lost 0 autoattack time due to poorly stacking his CAs.You may say, "big deal, what the heck difference does .3 seconds of autoattack really influence?" But if Bruiser_01 is losing .3 seconds off every autoattack volley, that means that his autoattacks are 30% less efficient than those of Bruiser_02. 30% efficiency is a big deal.</div><p>Message Edited by rckmer on <span class=date_text>09-27-2006</span> <span class=time_text>02:56 PM</span>

When you say you see the weapon swing are you mening this literally? or are you using orange numbers? I didn't think the actual fight animation was that accurately tied to damage? Thanks<div></div>

Then you can see whenever you actually swing your weapons. When you see, "You hit a_target_01 for ### damage," you can know your autoattack just cycled, and are free to spam combat arts for however long until your weapon is set to swing again. It really comes down to being aware of the casting times of your abilities, and the delay of your weapons. If you can maximize your combat art use while minimizing the loss of autoattack due to being midcast, you are doing all you can for capitalizing on all of your potential dps. After that it's all about group setup and debuffs.
