STA = most important cause its the hardest to max out. STR/AGI are very easy to maxout due to the fact we can buff our own STR/AGI. I think everyone can agree STA is #1 as for #2 peolple will pry argue. I would say either STR or WIS depending. Its nice to have your STR close to capped but there is no point is going over the cap.

Im gunna go with Stamin as the most important and STR after that. Your attack continues to rise when STR is over the max and i have yet to see any VALID proof of this being a graphic bug or anything so untill then i believe STR would be 2nd.

i have a question - its also about str, sta, wis, ...

i´m getting close to finish the claymore in the palace of the awakened:

so normaly i would take the brawler shoulderpads - with 30 str and 30 sta also with 7 defence.

but i have seen yesterday on valor a bruiser who has taken the armor with 30 sta and 30 wis ( the fury/warden one).

is that 30 wis worth it? since my str is at 498 solo... or take the 7 defence and the extra str vor future lvling?

-

shifter

The responses above surpirse me. Perhaps more because of my lack of knowledge...

I am a 52 bruiser and all my weapons/armour are STR/AGI oriented. I mean EVERYTHING.

I notice that this gives me about 60% avoidance, nearer 70% with buffs in a group. So the mobs rarely hit me - good for a tank.

Also my attack rating is pretty high - I usually out DPS any other class at my level in a group. This helps with holding aggro which with such high DPS generates a lot of hate.

Am I missing something? A bruiser that hits so hard, is good at hate generation and rarely gets hit by the mobs is surely at the top of the tanking tree?

Message Edited by Agnar D'Shar on 08-07-2006 05:40 AM

@ agnar

this works fine up to lvl 65 - after that - without any sta (hp) wis (resi) you will not survive long

and be prepared that everyone will laugh at you when you will form a group for nizara...

When comparing armor, I typically look at stats in this order:

1. Mitigation

2. Hit Points / Stamina combinations

3. Defensive Skill mods (+deflection, +parry, +defense)

4. Resists

5. Strength

The main idea is that survivability rules the day, which is true for both tanking and DPS'ing on raids (we're not exactly a stealthy DPS type :smileywink: )

Agility has always been an afterthought for me, mostly because Bruisers self-buff a ton of it.

Just want to add about agility. With us being able to get a fiarly high AGI as is i don't see much return on small amounts of AGI. a few % avd isn't worth more than a few hundred HPs or a few % mit IMO.

well, i must say that hits me too.

I always thought avd. should be maxed, and of course i always kept an eye on my hitpoints, miti and resists and I found thats its hard to get keep a balance. So I´m traveling with maybe 3 sets of gear, like carpace - wraps; light/dark cithin rings - imbued rings and stuff like that, some with higher resistance some with better stats.

maybe you could post some gear thats "good to go" and not necessarily raid gear, since i only do some pickupraids once in a while for now.

I´d appreciate that and thx in advance

here is my gear set - which i tank through h.o.f without any probs:

hat - huluhs hat

chest - soaked guard of xhorrox - claymore sanct - before i use queens carapace (ugly like hell) but good enough

shoulder - manacles of dark sky - bought for 1p

arms - pristine tail dext dragonhide bracers - craftet

hands - excarnate handwraps - used restrainer mits before - loot sanct

belt - belt of the doomflight - raidloot t7, used t7 named girdle from sanct - lost name

legs - endbringer leggins - bought for 3p

boots - sandals of the tranquil - raid loot t6 - still good - used boots of bashing before (also sanct loot)

nek - mark of the awakened

earings - dragonscale earings - claymore series - before i had acrylia earings

rings - two dark chitin - change on different situation with light chitin or craftet resi rings for raids

wrists - dustworm bracers - acrylia bangle (craftet)

weapon - for tankin enlightet staff / for dps fists of the slashing claw - fists of the fire breath...

some parts still missing, with descent gear you should also upgrade all of your spells to master. then you are nearly unbeatable i said NEARLY

I realize that the above is probably perfect for a raider, since the gear you're comparing probably all has a ton of str so it's maxxed and not a concern.

I'm currently level 52, and up until now gear has just been a matter of farming the rares and getting the pieces made. Now, however, I've got a few more choices, and I'm likely to be using the items for more than a week or two. So my questions go something like this: are the bracelets (jewelry) that give +50 mit vs. CSP and decent saves better than vanadium (18 str/sta/agi, 40 hps/pwr)? Is my neck shackles (70 mit vs. CSP, 5 sta) better than something with stats and hps/pwr or saves? How much physical mitigation is worth losing a big chunk of stats or hps for? I'm in full scaled leather, so my mit. w/o jewelry is probably as high as the average t6 bruiser is going to get. I guess the question is, is an extra ~170 physical mitigation worth ~350 hps and ~50 str/agi? Or should I try to work in some non-physical migigation too?

Sta and Str in that order.Look for gear that gives pluses to Deflection (each point of deflection gives the most to your over all avoidance) Defence, Parry etcthen look for gear that pluses a damage type what ever you are using the most i.e. Crushing Slashing Piercing so you hit more often when in your defence stanceand Mitigation is very important. Look for jewlery that gives pluses (Light Chitin and Dark Chitin Rings etc) i am almost t7 fabled out and i sit at 3500ish mitigation when grouped in raid make up. Hardened Skin M1 and Vigorious Spirit M1 and Eagle Shriek puts me close to 8k miti when its all going. That means i can grab a stray mob in the raid and survive dragging it back to the MT which comes in handy on mem wipe mobs like Doom Triad and Vyemmanother good way to increase DPS is to find proc items, a lot of weapons do it im currently using the 63 DR Calamity and the Boneskewer Tooth from Deathtoll with Mace of Red Scales and Fist of Pain as back up and soon ill have Mallet of the Overlord for tanking (when it drops) Clawed Basilisk Boots are an excelent source of DPS as well. Ronzul's list is a pretty good guide line. Follow that and you will be set. Also it depends on what your specializing in. If you like to tank and do it often Sta and avoidance pluses are key. If you DPS a lot i would suggest finding your self a nice gi since they usualy have less miti but give good pluses to combat stuff.
