<DIV> <P><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT color=#ffffff><SPAN> </SPAN>It seems that avoidance has changed over the past year or so, or at least between T6 and T7 game mechanics.<SPAN> </SPAN>These changes have been subtle, but affect the way defense, deflection, and parry actually add to our avoidance.<SPAN> </SPAN>I had done a study on these back when desert of flames was young, and now I have done another.<SPAN> </SPAN>I have tested avoidance bonuses that are granted from higher agility, higher deflection, parry, defense, and even those of wearing Cloth Armor vs. Leather Armor, should anyone wish to wear cloth.<SPAN> </SPAN>Below are the results of my testing.</FONT></FONT></FONT></P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3></FONT> </P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3><STRONG>1 point of agility gives approx .025% avoidance.</STRONG></FONT></P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3><STRONG>4 points of agility gives approx .1 % avoidance.</STRONG></FONT></P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3><STRONG>1 point of defense gives approx .15% avoidance.</STRONG></FONT></P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3><STRONG>1 point of parry gives approx .17% avoidance.</STRONG></FONT></P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3><STRONG>1 Point of deflection gives approx .23% avoidance.</STRONG></FONT></P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3><STRONG>Base avoidance of a piece of armor being leather is .8%</STRONG></FONT></P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3><STRONG>Base avoidance of a piece of armor being cloth is 1.7%</STRONG></FONT></P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3></FONT> </P> <P><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT color=#ffffff><SPAN> </SPAN>I was unable to test the base avoidance for chain armor, but I imagine it is around .4%</FONT></FONT></FONT></P> <P><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT color=#ffffff>I did get a plate tank to confirm that by removing a piece of plate armor that had no AGI or other defensive bonuses, that he had no visible change in avoidance.<SPAN> </SPAN>I can infer therefore, that Plate Armor provides NO avoidance bonus, or if it does, than it is less than .1% and therefore is not visible.<SPAN> </SPAN></FONT></FONT></FONT></P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3></FONT> </P> <P><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT color=#ffffff><SPAN> </SPAN>What does this all mean?<SPAN> </SPAN>Well to me, it says that deflection is king.<SPAN> </SPAN>If you have to choose between an item with 5 deflection, and an item with 5 parry, you would be better to choose the item with deflection if you want to increase your avoidance.<SPAN> </SPAN>The parry skill does however offer you the chance to riposte on a successful parry from a frontal arc, which may be why it offer less base avoidance per point than deflection, however the numbers show deflection as being significantly higher than parry.<SPAN> </SPAN></FONT></FONT></FONT></P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3></FONT> </P> <P><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT color=#ffffff><SPAN> </SPAN>Another reason to try and get deflection gear over parry gear is the fact that only brawlers can buff their own deflection, and nobody else can do that for us.<SPAN> </SPAN>A dirge can buff your parry skill, and a troubadour can buff your defense, but if you don’t get your deflection skill high, nobody else is going to be able to do it for you.<SPAN> </SPAN></FONT></FONT></FONT></P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3></FONT> </P> <P><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT color=#ffffff>In closing, this is all my own study, and by no means official.<SPAN> </SPAN>If anyone can confirm how much chain armor gives as a bonus for being chain, I’d appreciate it.<SPAN> </SPAN>My numbers might not be 100% accurate, so if you notice that I have made an error, please feel free to let me know.<SPAN> </SPAN></FONT></FONT></FONT></P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3></FONT> </P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3>Thanks! </FONT></P> <P><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffffff size=3></FONT> </P></DIV>
