<DIV>Hi,</DIV> <DIV>I'm looking for a little advice please. Our casual raiding guild has no Monk and a Bruiser that only makes a few raids (effectively we have no Monk or Bruiser).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How important do you think it is to have one of these for raiding and if so which? I have read that some guilds believe monks to be indispensible on pulls - is this the case?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We have decently geared mitigation tanks so I wouldn't be looking at using a Brawler in an MT capacity (maybe off-tank).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My main is a Ranger but I have a Bruiser alt that I can equip and betray if absolutely necessary. Right now the Ranger is important for our DPS but we have another Ranger and Assassin reaching raiding levels. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My Ranger will always be my first choice but I'm looking to make the right decisions about the Brawler alt should she ever be needed. If a Brawler is pretty much considered a must-have to progress through raid content then so be it. But which one? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Oh, and forgive me for being dumb with a side order of extra dumb, but some fo the discussions on AA builds have left confused. What would you recommend as speerate defensive and offensive builds and is there a decent compromise?  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any thoughts would be most welcome.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Mirdo.<BR></DIV><p>Message Edited by Mirdo on <span class=date_text>06-22-2006</span> <span class=time_text>11:53 AM</span>

<DIV>I don't have all the facts, but from my experience as a raiding bruiser they always pick the monk for the MT grp.  I also theink their grp FD is a great utility for a raid for whatever grp he's in since we usually have a healer in every grp lets say he doesn't have a rez item for whatever reason and he manages to grp FD and catch the healer great.  If I FD without a rez item for whatever reason then I'm screwed, wish they would make an alchamist item that rez's people I would stock up haha.  I also beleive the monk avoidance buff is bigger then ours (not posative just assuming).  That's about all my input as I'm sure some more people will pour into here all the statistics, deep down to me it's whichever one u have more fun playing they both benifit the raid in simular ways.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>P.S.  Sorry for my poor spelling never was one of my strong skills.</DIV>

<P>well, rangers and brawlers  have seperate roles in raids...</P> <P>you will find many fights where ranged dps is key...(corsolander, Sharti -unless your guild has great people calling the joust, etc)</P> <P>Gorenaire is a fight thats much easier with 2 brawlers tanking it.</P> <P>What i like most about raiding with the bruiser---  mobs with aoes I'm able to bring a much more consistent level of dps to the fight than the summoners in the guild, and  compared to my warlock, my dps is much more consistent overall (between multi mob and single target fights, my dps on the bruiser runs higher on average than the warlock)</P> <P>I've gone with a defensive aa build, and still end up in top 6 of the parse regularly, our offensive build bruiser is top 3 normally.</P> <P>While i'd never consider going to a monk, there are some key pulls that a monk is ideal for, thanks to tsunami.</P> <P> </P>

Hi again and thanks for the replies so far guys. To clarify, yup I know rangers and Bruisers have different roles - but the point is we don't have a full time Brawler in the guild but we do have some more DPS up and coming. My bruiser alt is in her 60's and can hit 70 quite quickly.  I don't mind whether she's a Bruiser or Monk but wonder if anyone has a definitive answer as to which is best given that her role will be pulling (if required) and off-tanking.  Advice on Achievement allocations would also be welcome. Currently we are raiding labs, Lyceum, have poked our noses into halls and ultimately will be working DT access. Thanks again, Mirdo. <div></div>

<P>for pulling, the monk is preferable...</P> <P> </P> <P>for off tanking, the bruiser is preferred</P>
