Nobody ever comments on the agi line. The only thing I ever heard about the agi line is "stay away from it". But I was looking thru the line today and noticed that the second option down actually seemed pretty good. Called Baton Flurry, it does some dmg, reduces our recast timers by 20%, and increases the hit mobs by 20%. At higher ranks of this you could keep it going permenently. In fact, if the reduced recast time effects the ability itself, you'd probably only need lvl 6 or 7 to get it to be permenent. So if you combined that with the other agi ability called ambideterity, you could effectively have a constnat 26% reduced recasting time. Making our 1 minute timers 45 seconds and our 30 second timers down to 22 seconds. This may not sound like much but how far off would the math be to suggest this would give us 26% increase in DPS from CA's?Thoughts? Or did I just totally mis-understand this CA?

I hate to burst your bubble.. i really do, because I wish it was reducing recast timers... but it only reduces the recovery timers.

If you look at every one of your abilities, the recovery timer is 0.5 seconds. That means it reduces it to 0.4s each ability.

To put that into perspective... say you do Knockout Combination and go through every single one of your abilities including the aoes (and twice for dropkick and pound, since they are 10s recasts), you are looking at 16 abilities. That means you save yourself 1.6s of downtime during the single knockout combo.

I dunno about you, but in a decent group, knockout combo is about as long as a creature survives on average. For bosses and raids, this may increase to 2.5s or 5s of less downtime.

Not to reuse abilities sooner... but maybe get in a little bit more auto attack. So really, on a 5 minute fight on a raid, you get maybe 5-10s more... so maybe 3-4 more autoattacks in.

That's basically what you are getting from this ability. Hence why it's not so hot a line, especially considering how messed up the final ability is, and how little the actual recast timer helps for dps, or how little the +defense really helps us in the "mitigation is king" world of the end game.

Just not a hot line altogether. Which is sad...

Message Edited by Raidi Sovin'faile on 06-12-2006 01:22 AM

Thanks for replying. I'm so glad somebody pointed it out. I had a feeling I was wrong about my interpretation of the ability, which is why I asked. Guess I'll investigate the wis or str line instead. Thanks for the advice,

You know, the line would become at least semi useful if they made it so instead of defense it was at least 50 extra mitigation per rank (maxing 400)... and the recast timer reduction was more like 3% per rank (so like 24% max).

This would definately make the line viable compared to stamina's proc, wis's proc, and int's crits... and their respective defensive increases.

The baton flurry ability will still be kinda weak, but combined with the mitigation, the line would be balanced, I'd think.
