No, as far as AA goes bare fisted and fist wraps are not the same.

With all the nerf about to happen its kinda moot anyway.

IMO Fistwraps should count as unarmed. Would make sense and make the double attack on the STR line somewhat usefull although there really isnt any fistwraps in T7.

Because fist wraps come with a damage / delay built in they count as a weapon and not unarmed. My thoughts on this would be:Add first wraps to the game that have stats but no dmg/delay. That way it uses our fists dmg/delay but we dont suffer the loss of stats. Why should we be penalized for taking an AP line? I could see it if the line was a little better than it is.

Thanks everyone for their answers. So basically, fighting un-armed is totally pointless then?

Yes...100%.

Stats bonuses mean very little because in groups/raids, you are hitting max in AGI, STR and STA already.

Procs are a few hundred points 5% of the time....but you are giving up 100+ DPS to wear the staff/Duals.

If you want to do dps you have 2 main choices imo:

Str line in AA - max out pressure point - 92% chance to double attack (omg) and 20% inc to base damage - sweet

Int line in AA - max chance to crit (22%) this includes CA's (nice)

imo Str does more. so go unarmed. If you want to be evil - train both.

str 4/4/8

int 4/4/8

It's actually 12% per rank, so 96% chance to double attack.

And yes, it's still worth doing, even over procs and such, because procs only add a little extra damage. An average of about 15-20 damage per hit (taking into account % chance to hit and delay of weapon), which translates into less than 5 DR for comparison's sake.

Honestly, you'd have to get 120 DR (either in 2hand staff or with two 60 DR dual wields), before you even approach unarmed at lvl 70. Only then might it be worth respec'ing for a proc line instead.

So yeah, I'd say it's worth giving up the stats and proc. Stats can easily be boosted with other slots, and if you are grouped with some buffers, you'll be well over your max anyways. I frequently DPS with my Blood Drenched Gi on because I'm over in my Str and Agi anyways, and I'd rather look good doing it.

So is the recommendation go "no weapons" at lvl70, or can it be done effectively at earlier levels? In other words - where's the breakeven point of barehand vs. weapons?

Thanks for a good post!

Barehands at the 10's levels will always be better than anything lower level than it, but probably inferior to everything above it that's in the realm of legendary or better.

In other words, at 60, unarmed will be better than anything you can get (short of extremely high end fabled) that are 59 or lower. However, if you get a lvl 62 hammer of formation, it's gonna beat it.

We have the numbers... unarmed is the same as a storebought 2hander. At tier 7 (lvl 60) it's 48.9 DR. At t6 (50) it's 39.7 DR. Considering my parses, and the general way it's been increasing, I can guess T8 (70) is around 58 DR.

Then you just apply 96% double attack to that and voila. Compare those numbers with the weapons you'll be using.

I am currently level 22 at what level should I go unarmed for the strength line to be of use to me or is your post suggesting I only do it at 60 and keep using fist wraps or batons until then ?

You level has no bearing on whether or not you should switch to fists.

IF you are planning on doing that, you should really wait until your have 4+4+4 in the STR AA line before going unarmed.
